"Not twinned with anywhere but it's got a suicide pact with Gdansk"... the surrealism of that sentence just made with laugh for 5 minutes straight

I love the fact that everyone on in the show listens in awe. Especially Susie.

I always think JCC should be cast as Doctor Who. If you ever really met a 1000-plus year old Time Lord, he'd be exactly like this.

I met JCC at Stanstead airport a few years ago, after a brief chat he asked where I was going, I told him Latvia and he immediately said "Where's that via?" Genius.

John Cooper Clarke is a legend, I remember seeing him at Blackpool winter gardens, he was such a star. Also the most commercially successful poet in music who isn’t a singer/songwriter.

John doesnt seem to roast anyone's poem and just happy to watch people try and write their own.

Been listening to the great man since I bought snap crackle pop in 79/80, we used to try an imitate with our southern accents, managed to to see him a few times over the years ( not enough), sitting here as a 60 yr old still loving him and laughing.

Sometimes in life you are alive at the same time as a genius. John Cooer Clarke is a one of those and we are with him — gotta count ourselves lucky

Only two of my heroes have ever approached me and started talking. One was John Cooper-Clarke in Edinburgh in 1980 (and again on the London Underground in 1995). The other was Mark E Smith (The Fall) in Birmingham in 1997. Both John and Mark were born in Salford, a place (including neighbouring Prestwich and Broughton where they grew up) that should be proud of producing such friendly and down to Earth (as well as talented) people.

genuinely one of the funniest guests they've ever had, and a brilliant literary craftsman to boot

Hells beard, I amazed John is still alive and still cogent after all the drugs he's done. Saw him at Glastonbury in 82 or 3, can't remember, loved his poetry ever since. Amazing bloke.

Love JCC. I remember been blown away when ‘Evidently Chicken Town’ was used in an ominous closing sequence in ‘Sopranos’. It was the perfect choice for the end credits and completely unexpected!
