A lot of people mistake Ukraine's slow and methodical offensive to be similar to the offensive Russia has displayed thus far in this conflict. A slow 15km for Ukraine in the south means they only have to creep the lines forward, hopefully taking as minimal losses as possible, while their longer range systems get within firing distance of the control nodes closer to the coast. As we saw in Kherson, Russia won't likely be able to handle non-stop precision strikes from HIMAR's systems over the course of this coming fall and winter. Crimea is becoming more and more less safe, so I imagine Russian commanders will be reluctant to relocate C2 to Crimea once they become under threat by precision strikes in their current positions in southern Ukraine. The coming weeks will be interesting.
