I sent in that box of snacks - I've been watching the gang try Canadian Cookies, Buckee's Nuts, and fudge from Mackinac Island and thinking "Gee, I wish there was some local goodies that wasn't wine that I could send the TRY crew" - only later did I realize that *duh* besides great wine and beer, Sonoma County has lots of local companies that make yummy stuff! Researching what to put in the box was the most fun, I got a half-dozen of the Krave jerkys, the Sonoma Creamery Parmesan crisps were a no-brainer and deciding which chocolate to send required buying everything made by VOLO and trying them all (such a challenging task!) I had originally wanted to send Smashmallows (founded byJon Sebastiani after he sold Krave to Hershey's) but was saddened to discover they went out of business a few years ago. I live a few blocks from the Charles Schulz museum and stopped in the gift shop to pick up the Peanuts stickers - which I think was the biggest hit 🙂

We have so much dairy raised in Sonoma County. My town has a holiday called Butter and Eggs Day. There’s a parade.

For those unfamiliar with California, you leave San Francisco by crossing the Golden Gate bridge heading north into Marin County. Keep heading north up the coast and you'll end up in Sonoma County and then Mendocino County. Napa County (the famous Napa Valley Wine Region) is just east of Sonoma County, and Lake County is northeast. One of the most famous places in Sonoma County is Bodega Bay where the movie "The Birds" was filmed. Sonoma also has the northernmost of the 21 Spanish Missions in California on the old El Camino Real. Sonoma is also famous as a wine producer and it's beautiful region and Mediterranean climate.

Bláithín's top reminds me of one of those magic eye pictures that were popular back in the 90's. I kept unfocusing my eyes and expecting to see a dolphin or something appear in the pattern!

Born and raised in Santa Rosa, and still live here (55 years). Mom signed us up for ice skating lessons when I was about 5. Remember it being fun even tho I was not very good at it, then after class, we would get hot chocolate at the snack bar.
Have had the beef jerky and the very good.

I spent 9 years in Sonoma County. My 2 youngest boys were born in Sonoma Co. When I was a kid we used to ice skate at the ice rink that Charles Schultz owned. ;) Right across the road from Codding town mall.

Home county. Great place to grow up during the 50s and 60s. Much different now but I'm still a fan! 😊
