Godzilla is the perfect example of "Doing the same concept a thousand times and still making it fresh and exciting"

They did it. After 70yrs, Godzilla brought home an Oscar.
Thank you, Yamazaki. You were one of the best things to happen to the franchise.

Minus One is a perfect example of finding the right person for the job and letting them create art. This is Takashi Yamazaki's film, a pure vision. It shows what happens when a studio doesn't interfere with talented artists. You end up with a masterpiece.

I watched Godzilla Minus One on Netflix last night, and it was SO FREAKING GOOD!!! I absolutely loved it from beginning to end! Minus One is the best Godzilla film imo. It so rightfully deserved that Oscar win for its visual effects!

I love how now everytime universal releases a Godzilla movie they're like "he's a hero", and immediately after Toho is like "nah it's not" it's such a great dichotomy because they're almost always phenomenal back to back releases that allow you to see both how much of a saving force or absolute nightmare Godzilla can be

The way the spines thrust inward when he fires the breath really adds to the feeling of weight behind the blast, even though we never see the beam nor the damage it causes

To clear up some confusion, no I do not mean 'outward'. There's a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment where the spines quickly move back into their original position in his back, followed by his atomic blast. Imagine it as Godzilla pulling a trigger

This wasn’t just a great Godzilla movie, it was a great movie period. Even after 70 years, Toho’s still got it.

If you were to tell someone 20 years ago that a Godzilla film was going to win an Oscar, they'd just laugh at you.
Bet they're not laughing anymore.

I love this Godzilla's design. It's faithful to the original Godzilla design, and his face and eyes are just full of blind rage. I love it.

Stunning.Taking Godzilla back to his roots as a metaphor for post war grief, guilt and anxiety in Japan was such a refreshing take on the big guy. They paralleled Godzilla's destruction so well with the main character's story. And the metaphor for grief and anxiety still "bubbling just below the surface" in the final moments was brilliant.

Give this film an Oscar. It's a phenomenal film that effortlessly blends modern action with the feel and spirit of the originals. The human storytelling is what helps set this film apart from so many others.

This was the moment history changed. Not only was this one of if not the best Godzilla movie ever made, it was created with a scarcely tight budget(hopefully that changes with the next film) blowing Hollywood out of the water, got everyone's attention and praise from fans, casuals, and critics, made a ton of cash, and received the franchise's very first ocsar. Everyday felt like a dream never thought possible for a Godzilla fan like myself and when I thought it would end, it continued with the extension of Minus Color and streaming. I know we'll probably not get this kind of treatment again but god was it worth it.

Just walked out of the theater. This is easily one of my favorite Godzilla movies. It really brought Godzilla back to its roots and captured the spirit of the original while being fresh. 12/10.

I love the fact that they HAVEN'T fully showed us his atomic breath just yet(excluding the underwater shot). Just that shot of the dorsal plates pushing up out of his spine in preparation for it was enough to send chills down my spine, man. Can't wait to see this movie.

Saw it last night...probably the best Godzilla movie of all time! See it in a theater with a huge, loud sound system, you need to feel the thundering roars and atomic blasts of Godzilla!

Never thought I'd cry at a Godzilla movie. It wasn't just a good Godzilla movie, it was just all around a damn fine film.

It has been a while since I've been excited to see a film but dear God... This makes me feel like a kid again. Everything looks so well balanced but those shots of the post destruction and the camera angles are amazing. Thank you TOHO so much!

You do not need to be a Godzilla fan to realize that this movie is an artistic masterpiece. My buddy talked me into seeing this and it is fantastic!

The way he's charging up was unexpected 🤯🤯
Correct me if I'm wrong I just noticed while watching it in slow motion it looks like his dorsal plates gets in again when he fires and gets out while charging
