Thank you I spent about 20 minutes trying to get my vacuum working. I could have vacuumed my ehole house in that time. This video was very helpful, thank you so much!

Bought a brand new vacuum, it worked for a few weeks despite the base and hose being full of dried dirt that looked like sand so I cleaned all the hoses and wiped the plastic under the cylinder with a sponge and toothbrush left it a day or two to dry out, and the suction had gone and when turned on it just kicked up a lot of dust from its base filter, the brushes turned but any dirt was going as far as where the hose attaches and just staying there, I took off the hose and put my hand to it there was suction not a huge amount but enough that it felt pressure against my hand, left it a week and suddenly it worked again until I went over a tiny tiny damp mark on floor and now its back to same behaviour, I am thinking its got damp inside any other ideas?

Replace the motor? C'mon son! It's cheaper to just buy a new one
