Emirates JUST SAID “NO” to the A350! What HAPPENED?

After the Paris Air Show in June 2023, Airbus emerged as the winner, securing 830 out of 1100 orders from carriers. However, the situation reversed at the Dubai Air Show in November, where Boeing secured 295 aircraft orders, three times more than Airbus's 86. Notably, Airbus struggled with orders for the A350, especially the largest variant, the A350-1000. Even Emirates Airlines, known for preferring larger aircraft, ordered only the smaller A350-900 variant, purchasing 15 units. Ethiopian Airlines and EgyptAir also chose the A350-900, ordering 11 and 10 units respectively. So, what went wrong with the A350-1000?

the 777-8 that has been ordered by emirates is smaller than the A350-900. and it is not covered by teh a350 family. the equivalent at airbus would be the A330-800 neo. but that one was not yet decided as a neo version in 2023. I do not think both facts are actually linked. the 777-10 is not yet certified and the A350 has the engine Emirates does not like. therefore the company goes onto different airframe type, at least for now.

Several reasons,
Even if they switched to a350 they would take years to arrive due to current orders.
The a350 is sort of between the 777 and the 787 so not the capacity emirates need.
Hence emirates chairman has for a while now asked airbus for a new large capacity aircraft.
Maybe the only way to do this is to give airbus a bloody nose.
And finally emirates has stated that the a380 will continue into the 2040s.
And of course they are making huge profits with this aircraft.
