Great review Matt and fair play to you for not giving into brand snobbery. Nice honest review. I play with the v300's and have nothing bad to say about them. I'm currently playing off of 16 handicap. Cheers Matt.

Great honest review. I like that you don't go into it trying your best to find the negatives like others do when they review the off brands.

The Slazenger v300 soft is the one that I recommend, great ball for the money.

I did a piece on this theory, playing Par 3’s. Definitely what made a huge difference wasn’t the tee shots but around the green as chipping was very difficulty’s they would just run for days while a premium ball would generally go where I was hoping or expecting. Look it up and see for yourself. :)

I'm a firm believer that you don't need a premium golf ball, you just need a consistent golf ball. So as long as the inexpensive golf ball has good QC and plays the same from golfball to golf all, go for the cheep ones!

Probably best value at the moment are Kirkland balls, 3 dozen for £36, 3 piece urethane cover ball.

Nice vlog Matt - good comparison
I played with Slazengers for a while when I was playing really badly.
Now I'm back using a ChromeSoft or a Titleist and noticing a difference especially on the greens. However I keep some Slazengers for warming up in the practice nets before playing.
Cheers

So the dew on the green at 4:08 proves Matt wasn’t doing and editing as you can clearly see the track of his pitch and then the track of his putt from the fringe. Very well done, Matt.

Good one Matt, thank you. I am 28 handicap, but I have been playing about with different golf balls recently. I have learned that Titleist Velocity's run on a bit around the green, like the Slazengers you had here, and that Title Toursoft stops better around the green with wedges, and that Srixon AD333s are somewhere in between. There are so many out there it's confusing. At 28 handicap I don't want to spend too much on balls. lol

Thanks Matt! As always a great video. I think the biggest decision of which golf ball you should use depends on how well you play. If you lose balls left and right, you're going to be pretty pissy after paying for a round of golf but then also losing $30-$40 worth of golf balls on top of that if you're playing with a premium ball. Plus it's a mental game "oh man I've got my new Pro V 1 out I better not dunk this one" and then right off the tee you splash it in the water hazard. Where if have a $.99 ball on the tee you don't really care if it goes in the water so you're swinging freely with a clear mind. I would endorse the Vibe Pro and Pro Soft, I like the Pro Soft because it feels good off the clubs, not as much spin as the Pro but I'm a pretty crappy golfer so it's not a factor I try, nor can I, control very well yet. Not very expensive and they get cheaper with the more you buy at a time.

You’ve paid well over the odds for them 😂 v300 soft in sports direct are 48 for £20

Found a Taylormade Distance last Sunday. Nice ball. Now playing the Slazenger v300 as it’s winter. Very happy so far. Holding the greens.

I play the TaylorMade distance + it's a good ball I like it but next year I'm switching too the vice pro plus in green as a low handicap I should be playing a pro caliber ball

For £15 buy the Taylormade RBZ, much better feel around the green and on them

Mid 20s handicapper here - I find Honma A1 is a good soft feel ball you can usually get on offer 4 for 3 online. Never seem to find any on course so not sure many play them!

I'd love to see you do a used golf ball vs brand new. I've been using recycled golf balls and they've been great, but I don't know how much of a performance loss/gain there may be

Hi matt give the inesis balls a try. 3 different balls from decathlon starting from 4.99 for a dozen

I play casually and use a tip I picked up somewhere along the way. Play the cheapest ball you can on long shots, then swap it for a premium ball when your shot is short enough that you don’t have much risk of losing it.
That way, you only are sending cheap balls into the woods, but you still get to develop a “feel” for chipping on the greens. Obviously this is not legal and just for personal play experience and practice.
For me, Driver/woods/hybrids/long/mid irons get the Walmart $19/2 dozen Wilson SmartCore/Zip/Chaos or Used Cheapie, etc. Then the short irons/wedges/putter get a urethane ball like a Q-Star or Cut Blue/Grey or hopefully something better if I score a lucky find. I try to mix it up.
Once I get to where I don’t need a whole sleeve (or 2…… or 3……) a round, I’ll already have an idea of what I like around the greens, then will start hitting that off the tee.

Good stuff! Can we have more golf ball reviews please?

I’m running Taylor made soft response, does me well. I apply “wine curve” economics to golf equipment, it tends to work!
