Its likely Windows 9 was skipped, because of faulty version checks.

> "There are many hazards to changing the reported operating system version number. ... Changing the reported operating system version number is always a very tense but necessary step in shipping a new operating system. You throw the switch, knowing full well that hundreds of applications that had been running just fine will start to fall over, and you’ve just signed up the product team for thousands more hours in the application compatibility labs." Raymond Chen - Microsoft; "Tales of Application Compatibility": stories from a Windows 95 compatibility engineer

Something that i remember vagely as well, Is that the Playstation 3 around its release had the option to run linux as a computer, however, this was removed because hackers used it to dump the console memory.

2:33 This is actually an intentional change by Apple & browser vendors. All versions of macOS since Big Sur represent them self as Catalina, for two reasons
- Compatibility: macOS has been 10.x since 2001, suddenly going to 11.0 might break something (i.e. checking the number after the . is greater than a specific number)
- Privacy: Reporting all versions of macOS as the same can prevent fingerprinting.

5:17 TPM has nothing to do with CPU generation, you can have a TPM 2.0 on an older machine (such as a 6th gen Intel CPU). Windows 11 requires *both* a TPM 2.0, and a Intel 8th generation (or equivilent AMD) CPU or later.

3:31:41 it could be useful for small code changes to the android manifest to allow unsupported device compatibility, or allow debugging or adb backup.

Android is not entirely written in Java. System core-wise, it can basically be considered a Linux distro, albeit with plenty of additions from Google (such as a custom windowing system made out of 2 components called "WindowManager" and "SurfaceFlinger" respectively, a custom runtime called Android ART, and a custom package manager called apk)

3:57:50 as someone who started Linux this week (CentOS7) this week I feel attacked lol, had this exact issue.

Either way, really enjoyed the video. Great work.

3:16:50 The second dominant platform is switching from macOS to Linux now, as due to the MBP 2016 and MBA 2018 being overpriced and not that good value, having their bad keyboards, and severely lacking in ports, which is a biggie for most users, who literally would ditch all their gear just for usb c replacements? The M1 fixed the value issue, but the ports issue is less urgent for pro users, but USB-A is still used extremely commonly
