Rotation transmission for a C-shaped disk 1

preview_player
Показать описание
Input: large blue pulley receiving the rotation from the brown motor.
The yellow C-shaped disk is centered on pink and orange pulleys. The disk is rotated thanks to the black toothed belt drive of the blue and pink pulleys.
This mechanism is used in cable wrapping machines (last scene of the video). The cable is brought into or removed from the machine through the slots of the disk and the machine frame when they are aligned.
Cables are inserted or removed from the machine through the slots of the disk and machine frame when they are aligned.

Took me a minute to understand. Very beautiful.

This requires an active tensioner, like an idler on a spring. In moments like 0:40 the belt goes a shorter way, the chord connecting the ends of the gap, instead or the arc of the surface, this reduces its tension and the belt could start slipping over the yellow wheel.

I always wondered about this

I'd guess the band and disc would engage better and reduce the risk of slipping if they were teethed? Is there an advantage to use a "plain" band pressed against the disc or is it shown this way for simplicity?

Hello, is the middle pink roller/pulley necessary?
