Our new project car is a 2016 LR4 SE SDV6 with a major engine failure. The car has only 64000 km (40000 miles) on the clock. Does it have the notorious snapped crankshaft?

Mad respect for offering the deal of returning car if a simple fix. That's why we love LR Time.

Anybody taking exception to this remarkably informative and entertaining channel is not worth the time of day.

Looking forward to the diagnosis on this one, I’m from the UK and have some mechanical experience and have followed your channel for a long time, take no notice of the UK keyboard warriors, I have to add you both come across as kind and thoughtful people in regards to the family who has experienced the failure. Thank you for the continued quality content 🇬🇧

I am going to guess this is a timing belt failure. Pay no attention to those Facebook people. Your channel is fantastic and like others have said there is much admiration for the compassion you have demonstrated towards the family who owned this vehicle.

Hi, Vera and Christian, so embarrassed to be British, having heard your comments.
I quietly believe you have become the most foremost Discovery expert, on the net, we love your content, it is so entertaining and funny, keep up the great work.
Best wishes from Wales

Hi Christian & Vera, as a UK resident I am very sorry to hear that a few people from over here choose to be abusive towards you. All of us genuine viewers really enjoy your channel and all the effort you put in to creating content. Keep doing what you are doing and don’t respond to the negative comments from bored armchair warriors who have nothing better to do with their lives. I’m really looking forward to this new project you have taken on and look forward to all the future content.

I'm from the UK. I'm embarrassed by these Facebook guys. They are clearly halfwits. Your channel is the best on Youtube.

Not everybody in the UK thinks you are dumb, sorry they have no real idea.

You are a very good engineer, mechanic and LR Discovery troubleshooter. Ignore the negative comments in FB. I would say that you are one of the worlds most knowledgeable LR Discovery experts. Keep up the good work.

Hello C & V!

Reflecting on Landrover, LR design and its commercial self interest, we, the public are persuaded by “gloss” and psychological subtlety to purchase LR products. LR products are overwhelmed by electronic dross, almost all of it superfluous, which guarantee’s huge and costly maintenance bills for most. Why the hell are so many attracted to it?

I do admire your technical skills, fault analysis, instrumentation to assist, workshop homemade test kit, real time fault analysis, accurate measurement. Science, engineering and bloody determination. Clearly you have taken a career route with Utube, I enjoy it!

This channel is slowly turning into a "who dunnit" detective series for Land Rovers. Huge respect for empathy displayed towards the previous owner. Philip makes a great camera man with his religious observations, of course not as good as mum !! Enjoyed every minute of this episode. Please disregard comments from uk channel, they are obviously not engineers.

I’m from the U.K. and think you both do great content on your channel.
Enjoy your humour and always feel your pain as it reminds me of working on my Land Rover. Keep up the good work and watching this with interest as my initial thoughts are there is more than one issue with this engine.

You guys are genius! I have a mall crawler 2012, but bunged some offroad wheels and tyres etc on to it. but the whole thing hangs on whether the oil level sensor is still operating correctly. I wonder if anyone has done a dip-stick conversion? Mine runs just fine so far with 121000m. If I had found your channel before I bought it though, I probably would have tried to find an LR3...Thanks to you, I now use 5w dumbass (40) in it. I look forward to each sunday episode, live in the uk and think your channel is just brilliant. Anybody calling Christian an idiot is probably just describing themselves and wouldn't recognise an engineer if one fell on him with a spanner in each hand!.

I am from the UK and love your logs. I even get up early to watch them on a Sunday morning. Please ignore the pathetic facebook keyboard terrorists who think it is OK to rubbish people who are trying ( and succeeding ) to entertain and inform their viewers. It makes me angry.... Why don't they simply not watch and turn their attention to watching cartoons.

Keep up the great work. By the way I have little to no technical knowledge but enjoy my landrovers. I am in awe of your technical skills, humour and your ability to present in English. In the past 30 years I have owned 2 FF range rovers ( v8 3.5 petrol and my current 4.4 diesel). 3 Discoveries ( 2 TD5's and a LR 3 for 15 years and 160K miles). I use a non franchised LR specialist for both servicing and repairs as I have little skills but really enjoy watching the fixes and the humour. Keep going please.

I'm going with a seized alternator or other pulley driven by the serpentine belt, we once had a Discovery with a supposedly seized engine, I removed the belt (with a Stanley knife) and it started straight away. The alternator had seized and the engine would not move as in your video.
Big respect for offering the car back if it's a minor issue, my neighbour once offered me a car for free that wouldn't turn over or start and a helpful mechanic told them the cam belt had broken. All it needed was a new starter, one hour and it was fixed and happy neighbour again

I'm SOOOOoo sorry that my " countrymen " feel the need to throw insults at you Christian, presumably finding the time in between making their own content, ay ;-) ?

Glad you can take it on the chin. Great new series coming up and bless you for being reasonable if the issue is minor.

Keep up the great output. I enjoy it here in Malaysia.
