This is why the coldest city in the world exists. This city is Yakutsk Russia, which is in Siberia. I also talk about it's neighboring town Oymyakon, Russia, which had the lowest temperature ever recorded at a place where people permanently live. Watch until the end!

I have no idea why YouTube suddenly started recommending these videos but I'm sure glad they did!!! What a fascinating city! I can't even begin to imagine what living there would be like. Particularly as I freak out when snow is more than 10 inches! 🥰

I just felt a slight sense of dread thinking about a prisoner stranded in Siberia. Even if you did escape you couldn’t survive more than a day in that weather. I couldn’t imagine how awful those people suffered. 😔

I didn't learn anything besides what Oymyakon is in English. But this is a awesome video for people who don't know much about these places! Great video!

Some of the prisons in Siberia didn't even keep their gates locked... if u wanted to leave - then leave. Some did, but none survived longer than few days - usually not even until the next morning. Bodies were found nearby, and were picked up and buried... but those "attempts" were very rare, which is no wonder.

Unusual to see any kind of tigers in a cold climate. They normally live in warm tropical climates.

Those temperatures aren't much different than say Edmonton, Alberta. I was in Edmonton for Christmas 2021 and it was -40C the entire week. Wind is important. If there's no wind then -40C and dry humidity is not all that cold. If you dress appropriately. But the moment it's windy. Then you're really screwed. In fact a majority of Canada is -10 to -40C for most of January February. Most have heater blocks for the engine block to plug in and warm it up. Helps to have the best cold start powerful type battery. Point is. Canadians are used to the cold also. But just remember if it's like -20C or more. It no longer It doesn't snow in extreme cold. -5C is the ideal temperature for snow conditions. If it was 10C to 15C every day 365 days a year I'd be a happy guy!
