The best way to avoid a pile-up on a snowy freeway is to actually be ON your CB Radio.

Unless you’re wanting to talk to a car following behind you or in front of you handheld CB’s are worthless. As a sidenote, I still have my JCPenney 6888 single side band unit that I bought in 1978 and it still works and it works well.

The uniden 520 and the president Walker 3 are the only two worth buying for mobile, the two handhelds are good for outdoor use and not for mobile as the midlands screen is very hard to see unless you’re able to find the light button fast enough while driving, not good at night, the randy is an excellent radio but unless you’re able to change the battery out fast and have an extra battery pack you will be without a radio, I haven’t seen a battery pack for the Randy on the market yet, and the uniden screen gets washed out by the sun in daylight, great at night though. I also have the uniden 520 which I have gotten excellent reports on, don’t have the president Walker 3 but I do have the president McKinley and president does make excellent radios for mobiles, any one of their mobile lines I would recommend.

why nothing with sideband? solar activity is increasing.... skip gunna be gettin better.... unless youare a pilot vehicle driver that operates on AM CB RADIO .... step up into something that does USB/LSB SIDEBAND if you gunna wanna use that radio ''talkin skip'' on the hill or wutever...

have an AWESOME EVERY THING !!! :)

cuz if you were a truker that likes to be talkn'skip on downtime, their radio wouldn't be AM (and now FM) only ;) right? again if all your biz is done on AM CB RADIO then yea... those are all nice choices and the walker looks best to me... but unless it's FREE I won't be gettin an AM ONLY radio ;) can't budget it lol

If you operate a CB within legal limits (4 watts), most of what you get is gibberish (the nature of the beast).
SO, buy a cheap one (even used) and enjoy the gibberish.
The BEST you can expect (at least from a mobile unit) is to get on-the-road communication with other drivers.
Just sayin.

Wanna talk down the street the Midland 75-822 and Randy are ok. Want a bare bones tiny radio barely good enough for travel purposes the 520 is a decent choice. The walker is just a step above the 520 but still it is pretty basic. of the radios listed here the 880 is better and for the cost difference the 880 is the way to go as it includes weather channels. All these radios need good antennas to operate properly and get you heard. All that aside I don't think the owner of this video has a lot of radio knowledge this is really nothing more than trying to sell cheap basic radios. Before buying I suggest looking up reviews on the radios you are interested in or get input from those that have owned some of these radios. I have had a couple 520's and still have one as a backup radio as for the 880 I have the sideband 980 version, and it is sitting in the cabinet for now till I get my Suburban repaired. Again, none of these radios will be of good use without a good high-quality antenna. Poster here has a video where he claims high quality antennas but trust me the whole list is flawed.

The first one by midland is a genuine hunk of shit. Bought one and all I hear is static and engine noise. I pick up the same two people I’m assuming truckers from another state. So midland sent me a second one to which I had one in my truck and the other at the highest point outside my house. Started from 30 miles away and couldn’t talk back and forth with my son until I was pulling up in the driveway about 40’. Where can I get a legit mobile radio that I can have decent comms with especially in an emergency
