They should've focused on introducing a handful of extremely compelling characters, and then on giving each of them a full trilogy.

Honestly there's a few things they should have done better.
1. Focus on a certain set of characters that we care to build the universe like what we saw in the Infinity Saga.
2. They should have taken a break after Endgame for at least a few years.
3. When you introduce characters in a film that is a hit, make a sequel within the reasonable amount of time.

Last I heard about the Shang Chi director, he’s also supposedly helming the live action Naruto film that’s coming. Apparently, that’s been a hellish production too, some even saying they’re making a worser film than Dragon Ball Evolution. That would be a true nightmare. Man seems to not be able to catch a break 💀 I’d love to see him make a small scale martial arts film someday free of any IP.

You can’t get the best out of an actor if the script and writing are weak. Otherwise what is there for the actor to work with? Brie Larson is great in other movies, Room is one I can think of, but she’s weak as Captain Marvel. In both films. Why? Because the writing very simply isn’t good. Give your actors a good script, and depending on their talents, they’ll deliver. RDJ and Hugh Jackman still did, even with messy or flawed scripts. I think Ms. Marvel is a horrible show, but Iman Vellani still excels in the role.

Feel like it's mainly due to how the not so well known characters in films by or played by a belived to be big star got introduced a bit too soon next to another not so well known character ( or in Eternals case characters) considering that in the Infinity Saga Guardians and Doctor Strange weren't that well known yet there was tome for them to in a way have the spotlight with like 30 months better Guardians 1 releasing and Doctor Strange 1 releasing compared to Shang Chi and Eternals where there was a like 2 month gap between the releases.

I think it is good that Marvel has canceled Eternals 2. The first one put a bland taste in my month in which it didn't even feel like it was set in the MCU (in a bad way), just giving me a gross feeling overall. Same can be said with Moon Knight, who I would have no problem if we were to never see him again due to how frustrating his show was.

Mcu just should’ve taken a break right after phase 3 ended instead of announcing a bunch of shows and projects. Then they should’ve just introduced xmen and fantastic four right away instead of all these C list characters.

The secret sauce of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is Kevin Feige. He’s the reason why the MCU is the most financially successful movie franchise by a lot. Feige was able to apply his magic to each of the installments of The Infinity Saga. However, when the amount of MCU content significantly increased, it’s not like Marvel Studios got more Kevin Feige. He’s still just one person. There’s only so much Kevin Feige that can go around to each project, which means the piece that pulled everything together was actually incredibly stretched. He can only develop so many scripts and be on so many phone calls. When this happens, the talent being recruited doesn’t have Feige to make their projects reach their full potential. Thus the overall quality dips. In general, Marvel Studios knew how to get to the top of the world, but they didn’t know how to go from there.

What I don’t get is how Disney failed both SW and Marvel with there TV shows they could introduce more characters for both if they can properly do a TV show not a movie that’s divided up.

The fact that they don’t double down on Shang chi, doctor strange, Captain America, and black panther is really annoying. Like, it should not take this long to get sequels imo

This is one of the easiest questions you've ever gotten. Covid and strikes are piss poor excuses because plenty of other studios were able to create great movies/shows under those circumstances, including Marvel themselves.

It's because they focused on characters that no one knows or likes(The Marvels, Echo), they haven't brought back any of the new characters that people do like (Shang Chi, Moon Knight) and the writing has been abysmal since they decided to completely throw out the source material (Quantumania, Secret Invasion)

These failings have lead to some of the biggest bombs in the history of Hollywood so I hope they change course and get back to characters that people actually want to see.

So much went against marvel but A LOT of it was just poor management decisions

To be fair, i think the pre covid plans MOSTLY was a good plan. Remember covid effected productions, then 2 historically long strikes of writers and then actors, in addition to stuff like earthquakes effecting filming of falcon and the winter soldier etc.

Pair that with the chinese government disliking Chloe Zhao AND Simu Liu- marvel was trying to foster some asian talent but the second biggest box office market despised that talent. So that kinda ruined their plans going forward with that. Then also chadwick passed away. So production wise its been a wild time.

Also don't forget they were pressured to announce stuff that wasnt ready and just still too early in development to help disney stock. Example is fantastic four and armour wars announced back in early 2021.

The fact they did a good job keeping up with release dates is impressive

I think all the problems leading to this was A : lack of attention in writing and making, B : the stuffs that happens in last few years which affecting not just entertainment but also audience too which lead to C : the suspension of disbelief does not work like it used during first 3 Phases run.

With all real world stuffs that's happening in last 4 years, it all boils down to people becoming disillusion of superhero movie aka Superhero Fatigue...

There are no main characters carrying the thread of the story through multiple movies. I think that will be fixed starting with Captain America Brave New World. 2021 - 2024 seemed like a trial phase...

I have a question
Does Sean get every question that deals with the MCU or he just picks those which criticises the MCU because that is a cool thing to do nowadays

Robert Downey Jr is good but wouldn't it have been much cheaper to get a new actor for Doctor Doom. It kind of takes me out a little bit of seeing him as Doom.

I hate the constant forcing of celebrity casting. It breaks the immersion and prevents the rise of new talent

What they7 should have done is look at the second team heroes that were introduced in the first 3 phases and look at bumping them up to the a-team. One success that they have had is Wanda. Even as a b-team hero, she got some development. WandaVision was successful. MoM was successful despite the issues. A solo Scarlet Witch movie would have been the next logical step. However Wanda is a female character and Marvel has a war on female characters because of The Marvels. Elizabeth Olsen might be the only MCU actor from the first 3 phases to not appear in Secret Wars.

Most of the movies lately have been sequels. We had Black Widow, Shang Chi, and Eternals and then sequels to older characters. Thunderbolts is following on BW I suppose. Eternals seems dead for now.
