Jordan lays out what ideas western civilization has taken from the Ancient Greeks and Romans, while also making a side note about how tricky terminology in history can be. Also, 1-2 too many hair jokes.

Want to know more about The Classical World and its Influence? We've got plenty of cool further resources right here: everything from random interesting stuff to stuff we used to write the show to stuff one might find useful in a classroom!

The World of Late Antiquity (Book- Peter Brown). The first major work to argue against the classic "dark ages" narrative, though somewhat outdated in its analysis and information.

The Greek World: 479-323 BC (Book- Simon Hornblower). A great overview of the classical period in Greece, covering a lot of the cities and ideas that aren't often discussed both in general history and in this episode.
