Why Fusion Will Never Work

My name is Ray Fleming and I have been conducting research in quantum field theory for 30 years. Here is a video about why fusion will never work. The efficiency problem is only a part of it, and I step through those issues. The big problem is getting the fuel as tritium does not occur naturally and you need a neutron source to produce it. That means running a fission reactor to make tritium in order to run a fusion reactor. It is simpler to just use the fusion reactor for power.

Russia made it work in 1961. They used gamma radiation from a fission reaction to drive a lithium fusion reaction which basically just amplified the energy that would have been released by the fission alone. The energy output that they measured was over 100 times larger than they expected. They called it the Tsar Bomba.

Agreed. Magnetic confinement fusion will not be viable as a method of energy production. The SAFIRE Project, on the other hand, has discovered that electrical discharge plasmas, with a deuterated anode, produces self stabilizing, self organizing, and self confining plasma double layers. In effect ITER is working against plasma’s natural tendency to force collisions, whereas SAFIRE (Aureon Energy) is working with the properties of plasmas in electrical discharge environments to produce surplus energy.

Great video, good to have the basic principles explained, better off changing direction on possible energy sources IMO

Ray is being realistic. LPPFusion.com is working on Proton-Boron fusion. They have already achieved the required temperature, they are working on optimising confinement in the Dense Plasma Focus

I'll probably be getting the onium theory book and 100 greatest lies around the third of next month. Have not started on The Zero Point Universe yet unfortunately. We're getting ready to move so I didn't want to start reading it yet. I'm anxious to read it though. I just wanted to have the calm quiet conditions first. I'm a guy who reads things over and over until I understand it as completely as I can. Thanks for the great videos. They're so great and convenient in times like this. With the packing and all. Thanks Ray.

I've had the same prediction for quite a while myself. I come at that conclusion from a completely different direction, though.
I say that the fusion that takes place on the Sun is an EFFECT of how it's powered, and NOT the power source itself. Since it's just an effect, it's impossible to take that approach to generating electrical power.

I didnt even see the video but let me say this :
Human innovation is inevitable and one day there will be time travel, space travel and ….. and we are also very close to discovering fusion

Will you look into Helion fusion production.

Nice video.
If we can get hydrogen bomb going how difficult is for fusion?

Starting to sound like the production of ethanol, you put more in than you get out. We humans like to over simplify complex issues. And conveniently leave out the consumption of the energy required to get the end product.

Agreed, Net-fusion is a funding doddle. Your description is excellent. I cringe when I see how much fluffy stuff gets promoted around net-fusion success stories and the investment opportunities that ensue. My simplistic view of it is based on latency. Take a Kilo of stuff at Room temp and a kilo of the same stuff at 3 degrees K. Reduce each original volume by 1/1000 and measure which produces the most heat. Gravity is pretty good at squashing things together but thermal energy tends to do quite the opposite by field excitation.

The bonding of a proton or neutron might mean resisting the electrostatic field torque in the nuclide and maybe there's a little thermal action but compared to all that juicy stuff gained from simply squashing the electron clouds down I'd reckon the stellar nucleosynthesis thermal energy mainly comes from nebular latency from the parent body and any nuclide decay radiations we see are simply neutrons doing what neutrons do especially with highly heated and excited beta particles kicking off some gamma rays occasionally.

When I see Net-fusion experiments adding thermal energy in hope of rationalising the gravitational component of the equations I cringe for it is the gravity squashing atoms that transform most of the electron cloud mass equivalent into thermal energy before fusion can occur. The act of fusion and the ability of the field torque resistance to form a bond is more efficient without all that noisy disruptive mass energy. It's a proximity thing. :) Anyway, that's my simplistic version. :) Net-fusion always rustles up a few dollars from investors and politicians trying to look cool so it's a good side hustle that keeps scientists and engineers and builders in wages.

Your understanding of the constituents of the vacuum - I wonder if you recognize artificial gravity as a containment field being one reason that technology is sequestered?

If the tokamak or other 'hot' fusion reactor was retrofitted with artificial gravity containment, 'breakeven-plus' output would mimic how the sun (and stars in general) work.

Only two 'moving parts' in a star:
1) hydrogen (the most abundant element in the universe, and not buried underground in OPEC countries)
2) gravity field

Our small study group of artificial gravity hobbyists figured that the breakeven-plus fusion reactor output would disrupt the global energy ecosystem, practically overnight.

Besides the weapons potential of artgrav, this "instant obsolescence" of legacy energy supplies is a big reason to hide the tech.

I suspect you'd agree "if artificial gravity containment was practical/feasible, reproducing what occurs in stars becomes possible"

You should fix the sound so there's no echo, its distracting. However, interesting video.

Someone had to say it, thank you.

Lithium is not scarce, only at low concentrations.

I agree fusion will never work and will never happen unless they can trap like the heliosphere and feeds back into the system. Even then the issue is permeation of the metals and can't be contained. It's part of the issue with fission reactors as normalized discharges contain H3, carbon 14 that then bonds to oxygen to form 14CO2, KR-85, iodine 129 and 131 which doesn't bind to soil, Sr-90, Ru-106, Cs-137, noble gases, particulates and others. Tritium thought to be the softest of radionuclides and thought to pass through the body within a month which is not the case. "Tritium directly or indirectly induce various biological effects including DNA strand breaks, micronucleus formation, cell necrosis or aptosis, chromosal aberration and various other phenomena thus negatively affecting human health. The half-life of tritium is 12.33 years and the AVERAGE penetration of its ELECTRONS in water is 0.56um, which is considerably lessthan the AVERAGE diameter of a human cell.  Therfore it does not cause damage due to external irradiation but rather long term internal radiation that results from inhalation, oral intake or absorbance of radiactive particles through the skin. AFTER ENTERING AN ORGANISM, TRITIUM CAN REPLACE HYDROGEN ATOMS IN BIOLOGICAL MACROMOLECULES OR BIND TO CELLULAR COMPONENTS TO BOUND TRITIUM (OBT). Exposure increases along with tritium levels in the environment."

Have you watched Eric J. Lerner's talk on the LPPFusion YouTube channel called The Big Bang Never Happened? I'm a little suspicious because he sounds a bit like a Thunderbolts guy and he's saying that plasma vortices are responsible for a 2.7 K microwave fog throughout the universe instead of it being CMB from the Big Bang. He's also a proponent of a fusion power effort, obviously, and gives a pitch at the end where he says they can get fusion fuel from sea water for the reactor. PB-11 fuel from sea water. That sounds expensive and costly from an energy consumption standpoint. About the vortices though, it seems to me that his explanation should be broken down further to explain where the vortices originate. Also the theory cannot explain away the Hubble process whereas your theory does seem to do so. A side note. Mr. Lerner says they also use these plasma vortices in their experimental fusion reactions and that this is how the universe creates free energy, as opposed to trying to say, recreate the conditions of a star here on Earth like the other guys trying to create fusion. To me it seems ridiculous without the mass and pressure of a star. Any thoughts on this vortex thing?

Ray, take a look at the SAFIRE PROJECT, where containment is much reduced in a plasma electric reaction. They use standard H2, rather than D2, and the cooling is quite manageable. It turns out that mega-level heat and pressure are not needed, but the power can be supplied with high voltage.
