Apparently it’s like 2660 and the Gaddis book, Recognition. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Have you read Ducks, Newburyport? It’s written as a constant stream of consciousness. I’ve put off reading it until today. My curiosity finally won. It’s 1040 pages so I bought the audio and the ereader version and I’m off!!

My God Syn you must be a speed reader soul sister. For some reason I get distracted reading Novels and such but Damn could I ever speed read the Fuck out of patient charts for 28 years usually scanning thousands of pages in record time 5-7 days a week and memorize them. When it comes to stories and Novels it takes me forever! I think it took me 3 years to read Crime and Punishment because I'm a name pronunciation snob lol...

IT AINT RIGHT XD He writes very real and graphically. But they are really solid modern day westerns. He wrote the book that one of my all time favorite films, No Country for Old Men is based on.

Wow. You picked this for your first McCarthy. :) Definitely cerebral. I loved this and Stella Maris. It may be recency bias, but I think I loved Stella Maris even more.

Others by Cormac:
- Blood Meridian is probably his best. Very bloody. Very bleak.
- The Road is probably his most mainstream famous. Oprah pick. Unrelentingly bleak. Won the Pulitzer.
- The Border Trilogy: All The Pretty Horses, The Border, and Cities on the Plain ... Sometimes I think I like these are even better than Blood Meridian. These are more plot-driven and more palatable to non-literary readers. All the Pretty Horses won the National Book Award.

McCarthy is just a tremendous author.

I’m a few reads into this now. Bobby was clearly schizophrenic for a long time.

I think the whole “somebody is chasing me” thread was largely imaginary.
