I once managed to create this farm and a bamboo one basically attached, It was an absolute unit of xp, fuel was entering automatically with the bamboo farm and cactus entered on the other side from this cactus farm and so you have a fully automatic xp farm in a row of furnaces where you only need to collect it.

You could replace the coal for fuel by using carpet dupers, they're super easy to construct and the smallest ones don't require dead coral fans.

What you can do is place another 9 hoppers below the furnaces connected to a chest, then the cactus will go in the chest and when you pick it you get no xp, but place levers connected to the hoppers, turn them off, then collect the cactus from the furnace, this will keep the farm running for much longer.
