Batter should have to decide whether he wants righty vs righty or lefty vs lefty. Switch hitters get the advantage against every other pircher, so they should meet their match when the pitcher is a switch pitcher.

I have a signed baseball by Venditti. He played for the Mariners for a short time. I went to a game, got a ball signed by him and another pitcher they called "The Bartender". Brett Boone (retired) was also there that day for a book signing, and I also got him to sign the ball. It's a one of a kind, as there were no other games with all 3 of those players in attendance. I love that baseball!

Unfortunately the rule only insists that one person has to indentify their side but the other is still allowed to switch to make it harder but BOTH should have to indicate at the same time

As far as I know, players aren't actually required to wear gloves. The pitcher should have discarded his glove in order to make it not obvious which way he was throwing until he was already mid-throw, so the batter couldn't switch sides in response.
Without a glove he'd be giving up the ability to possibly catch the ball for that pitch, but I think it would've been worth it.
