Cancer patients turn to traditional medicines in Kenya

With the cost of treatment for cancer patients getting out of hand amidst tough economic times, hundreds of cancer patients in the country have embraced the use of traditional medicine to manage their condition even as more research is dedicated to ascertaining the effects of the medicines.

I work at the Museum and we are in the process of protecting all Indigenous knowledge (song, dance, food, sacred sites, medicine etc.), keeping all the rights with the communities/individual owners (as recorded). We hope not to hear that baobab tree story we heard juzi juzi in the telly where the trees had dried up after staying in storage for over 2 years after uprooting. It takes a whole 300 years for one baobab tree to mature- imagine how much benefit the next 3-4 generations have missed? If you want to know more, please come to the Museum.
