The insulin heats up from your body heat and it is too warm to reuse which is why you need to change it every three days

Thank you for this!! Overestimated how much insulin I’d need for Thanksgiving and ended up with an expired pod and 50+ units left 😅

Just remember, the insulin can go bad from your body heat in the 3-day period, so only do this if it messes up on day 1!

Thank you for this video. My pod failed after less than 24hrs. There was NO WAY I was going to waste 2 whole days worth of insulin

Can you do it without the paper backing? That cute little circle isn't there when you take it off.

I also live in a country with universal health coverage. Or meds aren't free, but I only pay about 10% of the negotiated rate, so it's pretty cheap. And the pods are actually 100% covered. The government does this because they understand the long term benefits of having people using the pump. That's the benefit of a not for profit medical system. We would never take the chance of the insulin going bad.

I attempted to transfer my insulin from a faulty, leaking pod to a new one using an Omnipod syringe. However, the insulin would come out the other end, where the cannula is located, resulting in the loss of 200 IU. This method did not work for me.

Thank you! I nearly wasted 200 units because I was sent the wrong pods! I'm glad I kept them!

The last thing you want to do is use insulin that’s been at body temperature for 3days that is quite innafective then add it to contaminate fresh insulin! 🙃

It's really sad that you have to do this. I'm in England so all my medication (whether diabetes related or not) is free.
