3 Reasons People Fail on The Carnivore Diet

The carnivore diet is the opposite of a balanced diet, but it works. It helps people lose weight and heal. There are several things to pay attention to though. Finding your balance can be a challenge. Fat to protein ratio. Sodium to potassium, and also calcium to magnesium. Electrolytes, a calcium source if you are allergic to dairy, and not taking too much magnesium.

Hi, I like your content because it doesn’t seem like you’re giving advise, just talking through your process. I like your awareness of your body and your body’s reactions. It’s almost like you over think things so I don’t have to. I don’t mean that in any negative way.
I appreciate the fact that you’re aware enough to get a glass air fryer for example and you helped me settle on the one I got, Rae Dunn air fryer. I’m on day 96 carnivore so still a newbie but liking it a lot. Keep on keeping on. Thank you.

I was experiencing some serious electrolyte issues : shortness of breath, muscle twitches and constant thirst.
Today, i eat Goat Organ meats and the symptoms have noticeably reduced.

I was also dealing with Histamine reactions and read in a Facebook group to wash meats thoroughly and clean them with cloth before cooking them.
I did that along with taking Betaine HCL and the symptoms have really improved.
I hope this helps anyone dealing with a similar issue.
God Bless us all..✌🏿

You can try Epsom salts in your bath (2 cups per bath) to get your magnesium (need to stay in tub 20 minutes, no soap, just Epsom), and you will eliminate, too.

I'd like to share my thoughts with you in case it helps because after 2 years this is my conclusion
-Keto/carnivore are incredibly healing interventions BUT for reasons unrelated to ketosis imo. It's the lack of fiber and sugars feeding pathogenic bacteria. Ray peat talks about endotoxin a lot in this context. Almost no oxalate, phytic acid, plant defense chemicals in general. Incredibly nutrient dense. Low pufa
BUT

-Ultimately ketosis long term results in very compromised sugar burning for fuel (which you explained to me once lol). My blood sugar and A1C went UP on carnivore. For optimal hormonal health, we need carbohydrates at some point. Gluconeogenesis is a stressful process for the body. After a year of carnivore I joined the crowd of angry, fatigued, low T folks who had really bad sleep disturbances. My motivation and libido had vanished, which had never been an issue. What happened when the first 3 months I had felt better than my entire life?

I believe what we're seeing is most people are getting so many benefits from carnivore that the drawbacks of ketosis aren't that big of a deal. But give it 9 months..a year.. or longer and our bodies will start lowering thyroid, lowering metabolic rate, lowering hormone production. Eating like 200g of carbs these days and just want to tell you, foods that always seemed to bother me do not anymore. Like fruit and orange juice. So if you do decide to add carbs at some point, I would not fear it and just know that it will be an uphill battle. Took me months to titrate up from 0 carb to 200. So many carnivores inevitably end up in this place, not banking on it but I'm sure you'll add some fruit or carbs eventually so I wanted to share this with you

I'm on carnivore 7 months in, never had any problems and feel amazing. i don't think at all about what minerals i might be lacking i just make my food and season liberally with pink himalayan salt. Apparently that pink himalayan salt has magnesium naturally in it. I only briefly in my mind think of fat to protein ratios at each meal but it's no headache. Somewhere around a 60 : 40 ratio of fat to protein or even higher protein is working great for me. I always include eggs at meals with my meat and a lot of melted cheese to bump up the fat. You don't have to be chugging lard to get your fat there are much more pleasant options like cheese. Also plenty of calcium in cheese so why not eat that instead of calcium supplements. Eating things like homemade burger patties with fried egg ontop and melted cheese ontop of that, or big omelette with melted cheese and pieces of meat in the middle. I always have cheese and eggs at every meal as those foods contain a plethora of micronutrients - the very ones you seek. I also make homemade kefir (the super probiotic similar to yoghurt) which also has a ton of micronutrients, vitamins and is good for the gut.
So for me, i have had a very successful carnivore experience with no hiccups and am happy with continuing to eat this way indefinitely.

The answer is always in the innate responder... E.g salt your food to what "tastes" the best for yourself. Drink water when you are thirsty. Eat when you feel hungry and don't stop eating until you feel satisfied and completely satiated. Choose cuts that also smell and taste best to you and cook meat to your preferred texture (rare, medium or well done). All these innate receptors are your instinctive balancing tools when on a carnivore diet. Be patient. People have spent decades of eating the wrong diet, it takes time for adaptation and healing to occur... Trust your body.

In my experience, when I try to balance my electrolytes through supplementation, it never works and I have all kinds of issues. When I eat fruit, it all balances itself naturally.

Search for a Turkish butcher shop and ask for "Kavurma". It's organ meat preserved in fat and it's amazing. Especially when you live in harsh cold environment. I love it, it's tasty and filling.

Honestly I remember my eye twitching while I was adapting to carnivore diet. But it never happens anymore.

Avocados can help balance everything, healthy fats, microbiome in the stomach, magnesium, and potassium and it helps with keeping your electrolytes in check. Just add those to your carnivore diet/plate...2 a day is good.

Having had similar health issues including Chalazion on both eyes, forhead skin problems you might want to consider checking your sinuses for Macarons (Staphylococcus). They only time I have to go to the toilet at night is in mold infested rooms. Get a mold kit, kid, and check your apartment
