Genesis 7: Noah's Flood and the Documentary Hypothesis

Rabbi Dr. David Moster is the director of the Institute of Biblical Culture and the Director of the Biblical Hebrew Certificate Program at JTS. What a lovely story.
I especially like the part where God opens the windows of Heaven.
Another favourite story of mine is "Tarzan and the Jewels of Opar".
It's a really page-turner.

David, a very succinct summary of the documentary hypothesis as it applies to Genesis 7. Have you read any of Moshe Kline's work on the Torah? Worth checking out his web site at chaver.com. If you look at his view of the Structured Torah, you can see there may well be literary reasons for the text being as it is. For instance, the use of YHVH and God are separated by the parallelism of the pericopes into two columns. I think there is much to consider here, but worth adding Kline's work to your thinking.
