C. W. McCall - Convoy (with lyrics)
Показать описание
A worldwide hit which reached number 1 in the US charts in 1975 and 2 in the UK in 1976. It tells the story of rebellious truck drivers teaming up drive across America in a convoy from Flagstaff, Arizona (Flag Town) to New Jersey, via Tulsa and Chicago. The narration includes the imagined drivers communicating via CB radio, using CB slang. Ostensibly a novelty record, this is also rightly renowned as a great song.
Regarding the CB slang, I used to think that ‘Cab-Over Pete with a reefer on’ referred to a guy named Peter driving a ‘cab-over’ truck, pulling a refrigerated trailer. I later realised that the driver is in fact unnamed and ‘Pete’ is short for a ‘Peterbilt’ truck. Likewise I once thought that ‘Shaky Town’ referred to San Francisco but that didn’t make sense given the convoy’s route. I had to look it up - Shaky Town is actually Los Angeles, which does fit!

I do not own the rights to this song - this is a fan-made video to share the joy and fun of this music.
