4 cylinders can be slow and boring, like a prius, or fast as hell, like a tuned honda. the variation is what i like about them

The Taunus V4 was also used in the Matra 530 in rear-middle placement. It's super noisy as it sits just behind the rear "seats" with a very thin wall.

Just a small correction: the 1.4 twincharged TSI was the first generation EA111 without ACT (cylinder deactivation). The ACT was only introduced in the 2nd generation EA211 but was only turbocharged
