This story was insane. What 's worse is that Jeff is the reason why Katelyn died. He shook the baby to death, causing the wife's mental breakdown and eventual suicide. OP found all this out after his in laws told the truth when their daughter died. OP is still amazed that he wasn't even charged for the baby's death

She needs PROPER therapy and help mentally, not for her husband to feed the delusion. Then, even worse, what about your daughter? You will just send her off after she gets attached? For her entire life you’ve abandoned her (as someone she idolizes) then you’ll bring her into your life and then throw her back out. Nope I’d go to the courts and get a protective order against him and his family. If he wants to ever see his daughter he must pay child support for all past years and one extra year and either get his delusional wife therapy and she must be safe for 2 years or he leaves his wife as she is a threat

This is actually why, when my son's father showed no interest, I didn't press the issue. If he truly wanted to be in his son's life, he would put forth the effort. He didn't, I didn't bridge that gap. Our son isn't a therapy prop.

I’ve seen multiple stories where people want kids to ‘heal’ someone who lost one. What they are forgetting is that that kid is a kid, not therapy or a tool. You can’t just give children over willy nilly, no matter how long.
