Thanks for the informative video. I'm a 30-year network engineer in the PC world, and have had some exposure to iMacs over the years. I was tasked with repairing an iMac A1225, circa 2009, and the information you provided allowed me to get this relic to boot without much effort. For those using a PC keyboard on a Mac, and don't know, the Windows Key acts as the Command Key. Next question - are there any advanced utilities that allow a tech to get by the login screen, or to reset the password when it has been lost or forgotten? Such tools exist in the PC/Windows world, and I would imagine they must exist for Apple products, too. Just need to be pointed in the right direction...

well what ofc I did was check was there any errors in the hard drive. there are 2 ways, taking the hard drive out of the computer and putting it to a sata usb hard drive check (you will need 2 macs foe this) second is going into recovery mode. simply press the power button and once it starts to load, press and hold command+r and wait until the apple logo appears and then you can let go. then click on the disk utility once your there, click your hard drive and press "first aid" at the top, once thats done click "read details" and you simply find ur code, which for me, was exit code 8. then go into single user mode and do the rest he tells you to do. you can reply to me and ask if theres any problems with and I will do my best to help you.

I see that now it's only grey screen to do this with, but it said all was okay when I ran this. my '03 iMac gets the pinwheel of death situation when I do most programs to run and with very little on it it doesn't really want to work - thank you for your video

My Macbook Pro 5, 5 starts up, but it only goes to OS X Utilities. It won't let me Reinstall OS X.
I don't have a Time Machine.

For some reason after entering /sbin/fsck -fy I get warning: option -f is not implemented, ignoring . Is that effecting anything? It ends with The volume /dev/rdisk2s5 appears to be OK. but when I reboot it still stops about 3/4's along the time bar and doesn't progress any further.

Good video mate. I love my Mac, been using Mac's since 2006, so knew this one already but a very useful tool for people to know. By the way, I still have that Pirates of Silicon Valley film you sent me a few years ago. Thanks once again. Spencer.

As soon as I do it it tells me that the volume could not be verified completely, how can I fix this? :(

Mine said everything was ok... but when it boots, it always gets to about 60% of the bar full then just stays there... little loading wheel pops up under the bar and just sits there.

Hi, at the end of the stream of writing I get “bash-3.2#”. instead of the line you had on your video. When I typed in the line /sbin/Fisk/ fy in runs through checks and then says ** The volume Macintosh HD could not be verified completely. Do you know of anything else I can do? Mine is a 2010 27” iMac. Can I use an external HD and bypass the corrupted disk? Any help gratefully received.

It took forever to get to the Log via Command 'S' but I did eventually get there. It listed all you suggest but then froze so I was unable to input anything. Suggestions please?
