Enthusiasts, rejoice! The Honda Civic Type R will finally be available in the U.S.! We got to take a look at it on the floor of the 2017 New York International Auto Show. The new 2017 Civic Type R is based on the hatchback body style of the current Civic and features aggressive front and side splitters, and a rear wing that borders on the ridiculous. The hot hatch will ride on a sport suspension and unique 20-inch wheels; the wheels hide Brembo brakes just in case you ever want to stop driving. The inside features red one-piece sport seats and there's only a six-speed manual to shift gears. Under the hood is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine making 306 horsepower and 295 pounds-feet of torque.

Please stop drooling and check out the video before the Civic Type R goes on sale later in 2017.

Sorry bro, your Man Card was revoked when you said "unfortunately there's not a dual clutch automatic".

I was all on board with this video until I heard "unfortunately it doesn't have a dual clutch automatic option!" No wonder it has so many down thumbs. Definitely not a car guy.

I understand for economic reasons Honda went with FWD transmission, but I think Honda is missing a huge opportunity in performance by not shifting it to RWD manual transmission. Sure it would cost more but car enthusiast have been clamoring for something like this for year and adding such a huge wing may add even distribution to tire pressure but the wing feels more like a cosmetic than an actual performance enhancer.

Don't buy US marked up type r 50-63k. Need to produce more. Not enough HP to deem that expensive, rare but we are not dumb.

I reckon a 18 yr old from Essex designed this car. And I bet he had dyed blonde hair and a ear ring

I love my Si and I have been eagerly awaiting the Type R...that being said, I think they overdid it on the body...too aggressive. I'd rather it be less of a cop magnet.

I'd be interested assuming it's priced aggressively compared to the golf r/sti/focus rs. With no awd it should be cheaper..

fwd, no thanks. im quite sad to be honest. the thing looks like it should be awd or at the very least rwd.

wow did they just grab some random guy to do this review, this guys was completely lost, he no idea what the car does, or why this is a car below 40k is currently still in the Top 100 Nürburgring Lap Time.

I've always wanted a classic 60's/70's sports car to be used as my "weekend car". The Type R is the first car that I've wanted to own to be used as my "nighttime car". I have no doubt that the Type R will be the quintessential drivers car under $40k. Unfortunately, all of the fake trim pieces and over-styled looks would make it an embarrassment to commute to work. Pity

Unimpressed prop rod that doesn't match the car at all...gosh what a let down!
