I feel like the worse aspect of prosperity gospel is the assumption that if God gives good gifts to his children and you are going through hardship then you must not really be following God. It's all poisonous, but that just hits my heart particularly hard

Joel O'Steen claiming that tithing will lead to individual prosperity, only because he's a multimillionaire (that literally makes him money, so kind of a self-fulfilling prophecy). And how about every pastor on June 1st either telling all LGBT church-goers "I'm sorry for what the church has done to you" and the gay pastors who insist that the Bible either DOESN'T condemn LGBT, or "tolerates it" (because it's ONLY MENTIONED 6 times)

Exactly. You can tell a false teaching by whether they call out sin and tell you how to be saved through Jesus Christ! A good church tells you THERE IS A REAL HELL!!

Those are dangerous but the MOST dangerous thing is any religion which teaches salvation by good works and not by the completed work of Jesus Christ for sinners. It is most wicked to pretend this while embracing the other.

According to scripture, we should all be doing the Deuteronomy 13 test on anyone we allow to have influence in our lives. It's simple - if they add to or take away from God's law, they are a false prophet, and we are not to listen to them.

Five years ago I was an alcoholic drug abuser, barely paying my bills, suicidal depressed, came from an abusive toxic home with an alcoholic father and abusive husband. I was very beat down.
I started listening to Lakewood sermons, Mondays, Bible studies, Wednesdays, Bible, studies and Sundays .
One sermon I heard from Tauren Wells was on tithing and giving, and it was the woman who Ezekiel asked to make him food and she gave her very last to God. I started tithing regularly after that.
Five years later I’m not living that lifestyle anymore not only can I pay my bills. I have a savings account and I help a family in Mexico and in Costa Rica.
The Bible says give, and you shall receive the Bible says he’ll take care of us and we’re more important than a bird. Do we believe the word of God and stand on the Word of God and believe that God is for us I needed those messages of Love, Grace and acceptance.
Every pastor reaches different people, and if they’re proclaiming, the gospel of Jesus Christ, be very careful pointing fingers.

My co-worker/ friend’s husband is a pastor of a Methodist church. A few months ago, they decided to pull out of the Methodist denomination because she said they were being very liberal about several things and they said Jesus had multiple personalities.

Richard Rohr, definitely. All the progressive theology flows back to him. It's occultism and the 'wisdom' of the world coated in Christianese language, and I say that as an ex-newager. I know some Christians who I truly believe are saved but have bought into prosperity stuff and are very misled.

The biggest downfall of humankind is not so much people who do not believe but churches that are knowingly twisting Biblical truth to be what they want it to be and/ or to be different to attract others. It’s called *apostasy* and it’s the biggest threat in this world to people’s salvation!!!
