I recently had an issue where my Chlorine dropped to 0 and I happen to be out of town 3 days, the pool I maintain is at my mothers home. No space for it where I am (my apartment)... so when I returned from my trip, I came back to a very cloudy pool water! Milky white! I immediately did a pool shock and then a couple days later followed up with phosphates remover. I then took a sample of water to my nearest pool store and the chlorine was still low still dropped back to 0! (But all my other readings were perfect ..)
Wondering if that shock even did anything??? It was a brand from Walmart Clorox and spa.. so I explained all this to them and they recommend me their pool shock CHLOR BRITE.. and that did raise the chlorine so fast! I let the pump run over night and we didn’t get in the pool for a day.. however the issue still remained... cloudy pool water, not as intense as the first day, but still cloudy. They told me at the store that it was dead algae? The thing is I never saw any green visible algae growing... is this possible even if you can’t see it for it to be “white dead algae?” We do get a minor bit of leaves and a lot of flower petals that get into the pool and I do my best to take all of it out, but when I vacuum all the stuff just flys around everywhere so it’s like a never ending cycle. I’ve even drained a little water out and topped off the pool twice with some fresh water. So from the outside of the pool it looks clear, but when you swim underwater you can no longer see from one side of the pool to the other crystal clear anymore and I miss that. :( I tried a water clarifier, but still no difference. I poured it around the perimeter of the pool (above ground pool) and let the filter run for 8 hours. I wish I know what else I could do or try to fix the issue. I’m currently looking into attaching a skimmer and putting a magic eraser sponge inside to see if it can absorb a lot of that tiny white dust inside the pool. Oh and my pool is kept under a pavilion so it never is in direct sunlight or never gets any rain into it.
