It reminds me a lot of the Blue Compass. I used the Compass for a couple years, but I found a few annoying aspects. First, I love how scissor-style boom arms keep the microphone situated at the same angle without the need for adjusting. Being a tube-style boom arm, the Compass just isn't able to do that. Which would have been fine if it didn't start creaking after a couple years. Now, the joints creak whenever I adjust the arm for the first time after it's been stationary for more than 15 minutes. Also, the Compass runs into a similar issue with the SM7B that the WA-MBA has (though not quite as bad), and the Compass doesn't even come with an extender. I had to buy one from Shure. The Compass has a couple advantages over the WA-MBA, from what I could see in your video: 1) the joints aren't as difficult to tighten, and 2) the Compass' table mount is more stable.

I ended up getting the PSA1+ recently, and I'm much happier with it than I was with the Compass. As nice as tube-style boom arms look, I still prefer what scissor-style arms offer.

Also not bad to mention is that the warm audio can actually hold up to 5 pounds max....the PSA1 and + only support 2, 4 and 2, 6 (on the +) pounds respectively. This made the difference for me since i own a Rode NT2A...with the standard included shockmount and popfilter that mic amounts to a hefty 3, 3 pounds.

I’d replace that extension with a mic quick release.
It’ll likely be shorter, serve a secondary purpose for being there, and maybe look more like it was intensional. Instead of it being a hardware bandaid for a design flaw.

I look forward to a large comparison of boom arms.
There are a lot of quality boom arms out there now. Some better than Rode, many are worse.
It will be good to see your opinions.

The Blue Compass arm sure has "inspired" a lot of arms since it came out.

I'm amazed they didn't test that top lock with multiple mics - that's a pretty serious overlook for the SM7B.

Ive been using Yellowtec for many years now for both musical recordings, podcasting and streaming. After experiencing true quality, I don’t think I could ever go with anything less now.

After going with the YellowTec Mika Arm, not other boom arm come close, if you spend alot of mic, get a better boom arm, but if you are just an SM7B user, any of these $100 boom arm should suffice. The YellowTec Mika with the BCM104 looks like something special.

Should you put a sponge or piece of hard foam on both undersides of the table mount (but screw it down and attach it HARD!)? I’m trying to dampen any audible “thuds” if your or a guest’s hands hit the table it’s attached to.

I got my Warm boom arm around 110 USD here in Taiwan. And the price is slightly cheaper then PSA1.

Apparently Boya has a boom arm its called Boya By Ba30 that looks exactly like the blue compass and it would be cool if it can be in the boom arm comparison video
