I can hear a slight harshness that the budget mic picked up that the higher end mic didn’t but the budget mic still sounds so much “larger than life” with the external preamp. You’re production quality is getting so much better, love to see the improvement!

Preamp added effortless overtones, and flattened out the response in a good way. Before It missed highs and was a bit muddy in the lowmids, after it sounded balanced and even a touch controlled, very nice. Really wanna hear the tubemic with the pre now!

I found my way to build the vocal chain, that makes every mic soud great: i plug my mic to Studiomaster mixing board ( with 4 band eq ) + FMR Audio Very Nice Compressor + 3 band Exciter, and then signal goes to my audio interface. This signal chain gives not only great results, but even if i want to change one of 3 hardwares in the future, - it is much easier + different gear - different character of the sound. You would need a tube preamp to match those characteristics, also they have a different frequency response .

Let‘s be honest that preamp made a huge difference and I think it fits his voice better The preamp in the audio interface is nowhere near the caliber of A hardware preamp

I had to choose between the two, I would go with the 47 Junior and the preamp. I felt like the low mid bump the preamp was giving the mic worked better for the style of song that you were going for.

I thought the pro mic sounded better over all. Not a huge difference, but I felt there was much more air in the sound that I thought sounded incredible. I think I might want to get that mic in the future to use with my Avalon.

Beautiful microphone I have the 47jr . Thick vocals are great. Personally I still use my Sterling ST69 . 10 years old and still tops my WA mic. Really both of those are great and work wonderful. Plus the st69 is cheaper with higher top end quality .

Yet still, the 'Budget' mic sounds better than quite a bit of other mics that cost quite a bit more. I appreciate this comparison, but I kind of feel my WA-47jr is conotated as being sub-par.
