LENOVO USB-C dock Gen2 UNSTABLE

As someone who works at an IT department and has deployed at least 50 of these: Install a Firmware update on them. Unfortunately I think the Lenovo dock firmware update utility might be Windows-only. Has fixed the unstable charging issue on 80% of our units who needed it, the remaining we returned.

It could be the usb cable, they usually have short life span, I have same problem with all my usb cables

Just got mine Thursday and it stopped working today Sat 🙄 It won't turn on. I unplugged everything then plugged it back in and made sure the power outlet it is plugged into is working and nothing 🤬

Our school sent my campus two of these.... and I can not get it to work on an ASUS ProArt.... any ideas?

You have it in the wrong port

Edit: dude I think that cable can't handle how much power you're trying to send too

I have the same dock and a thinkpad x13 amd. it had never failed me. Tried the dock on your MacBook?

that's normal! I have currently a startech dock and it works 99.5% of the time. my previous hp and lenovo docks had much lower %

Well, at least I don't have that problem. My problem is that one of the display port randomly stops working 🤷‍♀️

I think docks are getting less popular since usb c monitors with RJ45, webcams and speakerphones are getting more popular. Unless it’s a BYO device environment where a display link dock makes sense sometimes

I gave up using it on my X1 Yoga, I found it resource heavy, but using a USB A gender bender as the Yoga does not have USB C. Now I just plug in everything directly. It looks like a spider sitting on my desk. HDMI, Display Port, Power, USB A dock USB Gig ether. Takes all of 30 seconds. Not neat but it works.

it's an issue with the laptop internals. by guess as to the cause is chassi flex

Hate that dock. Updating the firmware of the dock at least fixed it for me. E14.

The Lenovo thinkpad thunderbolt is the biggest rip off ive ever seen. Absolutely outrages the money they are asking for this item when it has fk all features.
