Dan Oliver of Myrmikan Capital runs a highly successful small cap gold fund and his deep, historical understanding of money and gold’s inherent stability at the center of the capitalist financial system is fascinating in the context of today’s credit bubble. In this highly requested interview with Grant Williams, Dan also provides tremendous insight into the psychology of speculating in the junior gold mining space. Filmed on June 29, 2017, in New York.

The most scholarly analysis of gold and it's essential function in our economic system. Gold is our anchor. Everything: collectibles, currencies, equities, commodities, bonds, cryptos, all move around it. Thank you for posting this!

I understand that if a crisis happens, just because your gold goes up in price doesn’t necessarily make you rich. However, everyone else is going to be super poor, asset prices will drop substantially, and you will at least have some real purchasing power to buy those assets.

Way more informative that I was expecting and while two years old Dan Oliver speaks very eloquently and plainly making it easy for me to understand what Gold is. When I first started wondering about money and hence Gold I mentioned this to my work mate and he called it a Barbarous relic. I thought well that's rude and wondered why he thought that. 15 years later and I have 10% of my networth in physical Metal. I have no problem whatsoever owning this Barbarous relic as Keynes once said although he was referring to a gold standard. With this discussion I realize it doesn't matter if you don't use gold as your sound money standard because its there and maintains its value just as well.
