I think the fear for many is transitioning over to notion for the same reason you mentioned. I am currently testing Bear App and Notion but may have to find the differentiating characteristics for my long terms goals with YouTube and some other artsy goals. Great short video! Very good pace too.

Love your videos! Literally what I need, short and to the point. Definitely trying to get my notion set up, at first it felt overwhelming but watching your videos makes it seem that it fairly simple 😅 I mean as a mum of 4 and housewife my days definitely are jam packed with things to do, all the more reason to have somewhere to organise everything. The looks folder can be done on Notion, as a Gallery database! I use this as my mood board andd add everything I see, I have a section just for articles, websites, ideas, design, etc.

Your last remark is what keeps me from adopting Notion. Given that I refuse to be tied to subscriptions, if I become too invested in it and they decide to cancel the free tier I’m screwed. Therefore I always opt for either the Apple’s own apps (notes, reminders) or Google’s (mail, calendar).

I translate movie scripts... long text files. Average screenplay 18K words, story outline 2K words, treatment 7K words.
I look at your very fine YouTube clip and I'm left wondering. Wondering about this form of minimalism you are touting which is of course marvelous, but it simply would be over the top for me. Everything is so "un-minimalistically" controlled. I mean your desktop is clean and your file storage is organized and you have every thought, picture and song that ever crossed your mind "mapped" by Notion.
I look at what you're presenting and secretly wish I had the kind of life with the NEED for all that organization which - I repeat - is anything but minimalistic.

What was important to me was being able to work (translate) productively both at a chair and table (meaning desktop, or laptop, or big tablet with external keyboard) AND untethered to chair and table, on my iPad mini tablet.
Long form writing on a tablet WITHOUT a chair, table, keyboard? It's eminently possible with the right software. Not notion, not any of the hundreds of cool apps for notes, doodles, PDF annotations and organization.

Repeat: I simply don't have so much stuff to organize, but 18K words that need to be slung from Italian to English in a week.
Now, thanks to an app called Notebooks, all editing operations requiring deletion (which is the soul of editing) no longer require selection. No more pudgy thumb dragging mini handles.
With a process called Connective Editing, I can actually perform most editing operations on my mini faster than what Bill Gates can do seated in front of MS Word at a regular computer.
