I just got iCloud and have 10, 000+ photos and 1, 000+ vids and was wondering why it takes so long for iCloud to sync it’s been over a day and it is not even half way done

I have 2TB of iCloud storage. I have 17, 000 photos. I’ve done this and only about 7, 000 photos made it. Sync completed and everything…but I’m missing 10, 000 photos. Aggravating to say the least. With Apple, there always seems to be issues with transferring photos and music from one Apple device to another. When you do all the things - including suggested hacks and alternative means of getting it done - it still ends with lost data and more stress. For devices that are so intuitive and reliable, they sure do complicate the things that should be the simplest of all.
I guess I’ve lost about 10, 000 photos because I am up against the deadline for turning in my old iPhone and nothing I’ve tried has worked - including backing them up to the cloud and an attempt at copying them to a couple different external drives.

I don't even have the "sync this iPhone" option :/
