what i hate and what i love in volvo XC40

what i hate
1. Infotainment System

The infotainment system on the XC40 is called the Sensus. The Sensus system is not the best in its class-- the interface can be slow to load a new screen and the buttons are not easy to press sometimes, especially when the vehicle is moving. This is probably the element of the XC40 that could use the most improvement.

2. Limited updates

Compared to 2021, there is not really much to see that has been added. The features are moved around a bit, but there are no new features that are added to the trims across the board, and no new elements to the design, either. The XC line has been around for a few years now, and it is getting old enough to warrant a refresh and some new upgrades to maintain its superior position.

3. Wheel Size Issues

Some versions and configurations of the XC40 come with larger wheels. However, these just don't feel as good on the road, and it can throw off the performance a bit.

what i love in volvo XC40

1. Engines

There are two engines to choose from when it comes to the XC40. The base engine is the T4, and it is rated for 187 horsepower. The upgrade engine is called the T5 and it gets 248 horsepower, which is a significant increase. Both of these engines are strong choices and neither feels slow, but the T5 does provide a nice boost for highway driving, hills, and other situations that call for power. The engines are also well integrated into the automatic transmission so gear shifts will not be an issue.

2. Efficiency

The two engine choices have different efficiency results. The T4 engine gets 32 miles per gallon on highway roads and 23 for city conditions. The T5 is very close behind with 30 MPG in highway conditions and 22 in cities. Both of these are among the best ratings for small SUVs, and you won't need to spend much time at the gas station. If you are considering the T5, keep in mind that it only uses premium fuel, which can be a little more expensive. Gas costs will still be low no matter which engine you choose.

3. Cargo and Space

Despite being a subcompact SUV, the XC40 has a lot of room inside. The total interior space for the back row is 57.5 cubic feet, with another 20.7 cubic feet in the cargo hold. This is more than other SUVs of this size category and it provides both comfort for the passengers as well as lots of space for cargo. Space is at a premium when it comes to small SUVs, because a larger interior often means tradeoffs in other areas like performance and handling, but the XC40 does a great job balancing this out and providing maximal interior space without compromising on anything else.
