DIY Hidden Bookcase Door - Murphy door build

Показать описание
Follow along as I build a hidden bookshelf murphy door to a theater gaming room. I was able to complete this build for around $100 by doing it myself.

This project cost me, personally, around $100. It was very custom to my space using a lot of salvaged materials. I don’t discount the amount of work that went into this. It was very labor intensive but the materials were cheap.

-1sheet 3/4” Radiata pine-$49.95
-2sheets 5mm eucaboard-$27.00
-2-2x4s-$8.00
-Door hinges-$10.00
-Doors-free(30 years old salvaged out of a remodel destined for the dumpster)
-Select pine face frame/trim-free(leftover-actual cost $30)
-Paint/Primer-free(leftover-actual cost $50)

When I was a little girl, there wouldn't have been enough money in the universe to induce me to come out of the secret room. You win the Awesome Dad award. Well done.

That was the most genuine like and subscribe I’ve ever heard 😂. “Like and subscribe so my wife will let me do more of this stuff.” You got it man 👍

I’m a remodeling contractor and I have to say how very impressed I am with the skill and detail you put into this project. You commented that you are a novice woodworker, but you did as well as many professionals that I’ve seen on YouTube and have worked with. Keep building, you’re a natural at it. 👏

Young man, you have skills, carpenter here and I know one when I see one. Tell your wife I said to let you continue with your work.

From a fellow woodworker, very impressive. And recovering from the hinge goof (we've all made) without having to hide it speaks volumes about your character. Well done!

Really awesome! I love that you showed the upside down mistake. It's actually very encouraging to see others make some mistakes, and refreshing to see a maker using "regular" tools :)

My Dad designed our house when I was a child. He put in two secret doors, one small one. What treasures. And came in super useful for avoiding unwanted visitors too!

Aside from something fun it kind of makes a safe room.

Man that's not NOVICE work! Who you kidding, LOL. But that's absolutely fantastic. Some guys claim to be carpenters can barely do shop math. Great attention to detail and symmetry. Great work.

Props for including your mistake. We all make mistakes, but some people don’t show them.

Absolutely amazing. Your wife and children have the best father and husband ever. My dad was a carpenter and was always renovating our house and always building things for us and especially our mum. Ever grateful that my dad was so skilled. Thankyou for sharing.

I added a wheel to support the weight. Trick is to install at an angle that matches the path the door takes over the floor! I love the addition of the doors. Now I have to "improve" mine! Thanks for setting the bar higher for me!
