For all who want to know what hardware was used on the sliding bookcase, there are 2 seperate sets of hardware. The top is Johnson heavy duty I beam pocket door rail and slides. On the back of each side of the bookcase are Accuride heavy duty drawer slides. The bookcase was built in this basement and installed as it was assembled. It does not touch the floor and is totally supported by the sliding hardware.

If you are willing to share the design I think this is something I would like to build to conceal the entrance to my home theater. Your comments below have given me a good idea of how you did it, but plans are always best. :)

thx for the video. Q - If it's totally supported by the wall (sliding hardware), what will happen when it's filled with books? Should weight over 1, 000 lb. Won't that be too much weight for the wall?

Yes ... there is a pocket door I beam rail with heavy duty glides. The cabinets also have acuride heavy duty drawer slides mounted on the backs of each section...

How has your bookcase held up since you built it? If you were to do it again would you use a rail or rollers underneath or have the drawer rails helped to keep the bookcase from drooping over time?
