Cool video, but I think changing the "Last in Line" lyrics to third person is quite over-doing it. Guess it's for religious reasons. But thing is, the lyrics aren't dark, they're posing a difficult question about humanity, and its future.

Ken - great job on doing Dio. Dio had a marvellous talent and powerful stage presence. He was one of those performers who seemed to be honestly gracious toward and appreciative of his fans, which is quite rare. Indeed, much of his lyrics were indeed quite dark, which likely appeals to metal fans. I respect your choice to adjust them for the purpose of this demo. We can appreciate a musician's talent without necessarily sharing their worldview or lifestyle. Thanks, man!

Regarding My How To Sing Like... Series:

People say "I want to sound like me and not anyone else."
And I say - Absolutely! No one should "clone" anyone. 
But we all have influences, and it is the sum of those influences, and how we "re-present" them with our own style that makes us great. 

Learning a difficult cover song where the bar is set high, is an excellent grading scale to see how well our technique is working.
This is also true for learning different styles as this increases our vocabulary for diverse singing and helps us find our own unique voice. 

In my "How To Sing Like" videos, I still sound like Ken Tamplin, but seek to show you how to sing in their "style" safely.

i have watched all your classic rock singer videos Mercury, Hughes, Plant, ect and you always point out a better technic so you don't lose your voice like they did, so this Dio video really shows proof of what you have been teaching about compression because Dio never damaged his vocals after 58 years of singing and this is the only video of yours that i have seen where you showed us how to sing like somebody and not point out a better technic you just showed us how he did it

I am a huge huge dio fan. I always notice that whoever tries to do dio seems to struggle to sing and still can't hit it like dio did. I mean i like ken and he definitely knows what hes teaching for sure but dio was from another place i think. He did so effortlessly that it was so amazing. Thanks for everything you do ken.
