Take a note also that all people answer questions in English ( mostly 2nd or 3rd language they know😅)

These answers are asked to people from East to West Europe different countries so the people in question have literally nothing in common. Quite impressive that European knowledge about the US is so high. Would think the other way around would not be the same, but it would be awesome if it is!

This is the normal level of education in Europe.

That's like basic knowledge

I sometimes get surprised when people don't know who Messi or Ronaldo are yet the rest of the world even though we don't have basketball we know LeBron, Curry and co.

I feel like your media is denying you guys opportunities to learn about the rest of the world

you call it "world geography", we call it "geography". it's telling, isn't it?

Oh boy. I will help you. You must have heard of: Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Adidas, Puma from Germany. Shell, Philips, ASML form the Netherlands, IKEA from Sweden (technically from the Netherlands).

This just general knowledge, although give them respect for doing it in a second or third language.

I think that most of the knowledge these people had was just general knowledge. I doubt they knew about Canada and Mexico because they 'studied it'. News outside the US always covers world events, so I think that knowledge of other countries and high profile political stories or conflicts is just part of the general information that you pick up every day.

Médias help a lot. It’s not about education, even if it counts. It just that medias outside the US covers everywhere…maybe not Asia that well. But pretty much everywhere. So you ear new countries and cities everyday in the news or medias as a whole. And if you are curious you search a lil bit.

So it can explain why US citizens are not that good at other things. It’s not only education it’s also the self centrism of most US medias.

Yeah! Those questions were pretty basic i have to say. Other than vice president and California capital..i had no idea😂those were very specific

I'm an Aussie who really only became aware that there are 50 states in America from the song in "Miss Congeniality".

In Canada, as your next door neighbour & large trading partner, we have ALWAYS been upset with how little Americans know about us.
In Canada we know a lot about you - & about countries all around the world! Our news every night features a segment on local news, then news about different parts of Canada or that affects the country as a whole & then we have an international segment that features big events around the world. This is just the way it works.
In school at about the age of 8, we are required to also read, watch or listen to the news & some are chosen each day to stand & speak to the class a little about any 1 particular issue they learned about (which also teaches public speaking.) In school at about the age of 8 also, we learn to locate & name each country of the world on a map (that only has the border lines drawn in) & to name each country's capital. Since the United States is close to us (& a significant ally), we are required to name & place each state on an American map (that only has the borders drawn in) & name their capitals. (Of course we must place & name our own provinces, territories & their capitals & our country capital again on a blank map.)

I have been feeling better about the lack of knowledge that Americans have about Canada since seeing some videos of how little Americans know about their own country. (It's not just us Americans know so little about.) It is sad though. Knowledge is a good thing - which I can tell from YOUR YouTube channel, the 2 of you value. I am glad for it.
(Continuing to learn throughout life a VARIETY of things in various ways ie. a new language, history, a new sport, puzzles of various kinds, dance, some type of art class etc. is also supposed to help prevent Alzheimer's Disease.) I think that the 2 of you are doing a good job with this channel & your new cultural cooking too. (I have only seen a few of these so far as I need to make sure I have eaten 1st or it's torture!)

All the best in your continued journeys.

The capital of California was very specific though...the rest is more or least seen as basic knowledge.
Also Kamala Harris is often seen in the news as for example Biden was seen during Obama or Pence for Trump.

Guys, can you name the names of two great Russian Africans? Hint, first was a general, and the second was his descendant who glorified his name for centuries)))
