In 1987, when the Lord's Resistance Army LRA began its rebellion against government, a 40-year-old teacher signed up. Vincent Otti rose through the ranks to become deputy commander of the rebel outfit. Some LRA survivors recall Otti as a jolly person in his camp, but a very ruthless killer during operations. In his last years, Otti became the driving force that pushed the LRA to the negotiating table. His peace overtures however, did not sit well with his commander, Joseph Kony, and he was killed on 2nd October, 2007. His son, Leonard Komakech spoke to GILLIAN NANTUME about finally letting go of the unease he felt about his father.
