I'm a hairdresser, and I recommend to clients to also wet hair at home with regular waterbefore going to the pool and apply conditioner, leaving it in. If its long enough, braid it. That way when you get in the water you have at least a little bit of a barrier first and it doesn't absorb quite so much chlorine. Is this good advice, or pointless?

1. Apply water resistant spf before swimming
2. Apply vaseline before swimming
3. Rinse skin & hair with fresh water
4. Towel dry the skin
5. Remove wet swimwear ASAP
6. Apply moisturizer
7. Wear swimcap
8. Use a chlorine removal shampoo
9. Wear a hat
10. Swim in the morning or evening (avoid swimming from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.)

One more tip: wear a rash guard top (like a T-shirt for swimming) to protect yourself from the sun. Once you get used to it, it's a must-have for sun protection. There are some really cool-looking ones on the market, too.

Could you do a video about loose skin and prevention during body weight fluctuations?

I'd love to see a similar video on swimming in the sea. Where I live it is very common for people to get jelly fish burns and I'd love to know your expert opinion on how to treat them. The general consensus is that the best solution is to apply vinegar to the burn as soon as you get out of the water, but I can't imagine that's good for the skin. What would be the best way to treat a wound like that?
Love your videos, please keep up with the great work!

I was supposed to go on vacation to Mexico so I was well prepared - several swim suits so I can change, water resistant hats for while in a pool, wide brim hat for outside of the pool (basically giant umbrella on my head), giant sunglasses, tons of SPF, several upf 50 rashguards for swimming and UPF 50 scarves and cover ups for while being out and about. Of course none of that happened during corona but I was ready lol

I really want her to make a video for acne prone skin that is in the water all day. I’m a competitive swimmer and I’m always broken out during practice.

I'm a mobile Swim Instructor and spend upwards of 6 hours in Summer driving from pool to pool. I use an eczema lotion on my body, (I dont have eczema) and wear a longsleeve rashguard, long swim leggings, gloves, a full coverage hat and sunnies and/or uv goggles. I keep hydrated have a portable shower, dry off after each session, keep my hair up and ears out of the water when possible. I keep sunscreen on me at all times, stay in shade when possible and after work, shower with a vit c shampoo/body wash, and slug my skin with eucerin. I also take heliocare suppliments, consume plenty vit C and antioxidants.

I have three uv protective shirts now...longsleeved (they actually cover most of the hands as well, with those neat little openings for the thumbs) and (get this): hoods! They’re so thin and lightweight, I hardly notice, I‘m not in a short top. Perfect, for being outside for hours. Highly recommend!

You’ve changed my whole family’s skin care routine! Thank you thank you thank you. Such a genuine and kind person ❤️ would you consider doing a video on anti-aging body care? Is there any point in using retinol body creams for example!

Perfect video for me! My daughter’s hair gets very tangled every time she swims! Swimmers cap is a must and all these tips are so helpful! Thanks

Wished this video existed years ago, and I had seen it, when I used to swim a lot. Hell! I wish I had found your channel earlier. Another tip is to apply oil and soak up the hair with tap water before putting on the cap. Wearing a cap won't prevent hair from taking up water from the pool, but, in theory, if it's already wet it won't take up that much.

Hey everyone! Thanks for the tips Dr Dray. I've been away for a little while having lost my only sibling so hopefully I can get back into the swing of things now. I'm watching most recent videos first. Hope everyone is doing well and keeping safe! Say hello to your mom and give Tybee a hug for me dr. Dre. I would love to just hold the Tybee right now, animals are great emotional support.

Hi Dr Dray, I'd love to see you do a similar video on running/jogging outdoors in the sun, it has been difficult trying to find an SPF that doesn't sweat off, any recommendations?
