Audi MMI 4G CarPlay activation with MIB2 K3663 AIO update

All-In-One update for #Audi MMI MIB2 systems (MHI2_ER_AUG11 and MHI2_ER_AU57x) which will install latest K3663 firmware and bring ASI (Audi Smartphone Interface) to your vehicle. Installation does not require any diagnostic tools. Just the update package, SD card, and less than an hour of your time. When it's done you will be running latest firmware with features like #CarPlay and #AndroidAuto.

ℹ️ Installation tutorial
1. Confirm you have Audi MMI MIB2 with MHI2_ER_AUG11 or MHI2_ER_AU57x SW train.
2. Download the Audi 3663 AIO update and extract it to an empty FAT32 formatted SD card.
3. Turn the engine on and make sure keyless key will stay in the vehicle during the procedure.
4. Restore factory settings in Audi MMI system.
5. Place the card in SD1 port.
6. Press and hold BACK and TOP-LEFT button to enter Red Engineering Menu.
7. Go to Update → SD 1 → Standard → Start update → Start.
8. Wait patiently for about 30-40 minutes. Unit will reboot several times. Sometimes screen will stay closed, sometimes will stay black, sometimes will stay on Audi logo. Keep waiting.
9. When it's done confirm it. Unit will reboot one final time.
10. Check if unit is now running updated firmware.

🚗 This tutorial was made in Audi A7 (4G), but the same system can be found in Audi A6 C7 (4G). Audi MMI MIB2 system (MHI2) is sometimes called Audi MMI 4G.

⚠️ If your car is equipped with keyless remote, make sure that the remote stays in car at all times during the update procedure. Removing the key from the vehicle can turn the ignition off which will cause update to fail.

Situation:
I have Audi A6 C7 4G, 2018 year.
Audi dealer in my country said that it is not possible to have Audi Smartphone interface on my car.
I made some research and found that I have this option. Asked dealer center again and finally they changed there mind and asked me for few hundred eur...
THEN I found this video. Checked a lot of videos/comments from this channel.. bought SD card, downloaded files, prepared everything..
I did everything by instruction.. this took for me max. 15min... and IT WORKED!

I wanted to pay for this update, but after I got the feedback from my service partner that my car wouldn't be eligible for an update I was more than disappointed. Doing a bit of research I stumbled upon this channel and after confirming my firmware version was supported, the risk-reward-ratio seemed acceptable so I took the plunge. I had some initial problems with the SD card I was using (wasn't recognized as a source), so it looked like my efforts were in vain. With a working SD card the process was a breeze, after around 25 minutes everything was installed and CarPlay working flawlessly. I started from the version MHI2_ER_AU57x_S2519_1, now running K3663_1. Thanks for the instructions, awesome work by the smart people who figured this out.

Worked after a bit of a struggle. Originally after unzip the files were in one folder and the car didn't recognize the files. Then I moved the files out of the folder on SD card, the car accepted the files and all went as smoothly as on the video. I have Android auto now. Happy days. Many thanks to the author:)

This was a update i was waiting for ages, you have saved me a fortune. Just purchased my 2015 S7 yesterday and updated the firm as instructed. I was nervously sitting in the car waiting for update to finish. It has transformed my car completely into a modern car. Previously owning a 2016 A7 bi turbo a year and half ago i had to use a aftermarket module and it was clinching !! drove me nuts.

Just wanted to say thanks and also warn others of one tiny issue that panicked me for a bit. At the very end I clicked confirm and it went in to the final reboot, the screen closed then music started but the screen didn’t open. I waited… and waited but it never opened again. I pressed the open screen button and… nothing. I waited another 5 minutes then decided to take the plunge and turn off the ignition, opened the door to make the radio turn off then closes the door, started the car and everything worked! Excellent and a massive relieve!

I have Audi A6 avant C7, 2017, MMI MHI2_ERAU57X_P3634.
I've used USB card, FAT 32, no factory reset to keep my settings.
It took about 20 minutes, no problem at all, Bose sound system works like before update. Android car works great.
And whats more....after new firmware I can also update maps! (before it doesn't work, because my licence ended).

Hello, it was with some trepidation that I set about updating my MMI ER_AU57x on my 2015 Audi A7. After downloading and decompressing the file, I put the /1 and /2 folders on an SD card. Then I followed your installation video. 34 minutes later.... Carplay A huge THANK YOU.

Legend, just updated my Audi A6 2017 from MHI2_ER__AU57x_P3634 to the K3663 firmware without problem following this, went exactly as shown and now have the Audi Smartphone Interface & Apple Carplay! Saved me hundreds that Audi wanted to charge & change HW etc. Thanks!

I just did this for my audi A7 C7 2015

And it all worked perfectly, very happy with apple car play and I feel like the mmi is running better now than before. It took 34 minutes. I also have the BOSE sound system in my car and can confirm, everything still works as before.

I then updated the maps following the firmware update and that all went perfectly as well. I was able to do this whilst going for a drive.

I have been wanting CarPlay for a while and researching it I discovered I needed a box costing hundreds of pounds. This was a few months ago. Decided to research it more recently and found a company locally to me who could do this for £100 by installing a firmware upgrade. I nearly bought it but then stumbled across this video. I have a 2015 facelift A6 C7 with MHI2_ER_AU57x, 2 USB slots under the armrest with one showing the Smartphone symbol .

So, I took the plunge and downloaded the firmware. Extracted it onto an SD card then inserted it into the car. It could not detect the SD card however. Checked the SD card in the computer and noticed it was formatted exFAT. 

Reformatted it as FAT32, extracted the update to the SD card again and inserted it into the slot. This time it recognised the update. After a scary 40 mins sitting in the car with the engine running the update was done and CarPlay was working!

Hats off to the developers, a big thank you for this video and providing a link to the firmware. 👍🏻

Amazing! Just updated my A6 C7.5 (2015) with no issues at all. AndroidAuto enabled. Most likely also CarPlay but cannot verify cause have no Apple phone. Big hand to MrFix and the dev team :)

A tip for others with a slow download speed is to download the firmware with the "Free Download Manager". My download speed went from 60kb/s to 1mb/s+.

Thanks Mr Fix! Used today 21/7/2024. Followed all steps. Audi RS6 2018 MHI2_AUS57x_P3464. Took 17 minutes and now have Smart Phone enabled and latest maps update key. Tried Android Auto, working perfectly.👍

This is crazy. Everybody (Audi, 3rd Party Companies) were telling me, my car couldnt have CarPlay. "I need a new control unit....pay 500 bucks". But you prooved them all wrong. :) CarPlay works fine. Thanks man.

For those asking about the necessary USB connections. I can confirm my 2017 A6 with AU57x software and MMI with the technology pack now has ASI.

I have two USB connections but NO phone icon on either. It worked perfectly for me.

I also just did the map update...again all worked!
