Looks like a car driven by an inconspicuous, upstanding, trustworthy business-man who runs a local respected fast food joint in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

I had a auto shop teacher in the early 90s who wouldn’t shut up about how slept on these cars were. At the time I only had Celicas and mustangs in my sights. Wish I’d took the advice.

The inline-5 sound is a marvel of greatness.

Some of the best looking old-school wagons. They're square, they're functional, and they don't apologize for everything. There is a long history of Volvo sleeper wagons so this fits right in.

I’m buying one of these, the previous owner deleted the rear drive shaft, added a air/fuel & boost gauge, 3” dual exhaust, newer Blaupunkt receiver, upgraded yellow fogs, dumped in a rebuilt turbo engine. Headliner is in great shape, missing hood latch -have to use pliers until fixed, speedometer isn’t operating-probably a wheel sensor. Steering rack, undercarriage in good shape, nice and clean. V70R rims.
This will get me to work while I put IPD HD control arms, HD endlinks, Dulrin Subframe bushings (harder than a wedding night dick) IPD upgraded sway bars, IPD HD Toe Rods, new crank and cam seals on my 2006 XC70 which has an Elevate tune, 3” Snabb Stainless Catless downpipe feeding into 3” Stainless with a Borla resonator & soon to be deleted Borla Racing muffler, upgraded Turbo from Tony @ A1Turbo in CA, IPD silicone pipes. Videos coming soon!

I've got to admit, that "big friggen bottle test" is a great idea, that many reviewers sleep on. Especially here in the land of the free, and the home of the brave, where having refreshments on a drive is second nature, that we often don't truly give a great deal of thought anymore, as it's such a standard part of the charmed life of U.S. citizens, that we forget to think about it until after we've bought that new ride that we're so excited for, just to turn around and after pushing random buttons, searching high/ low, ect., just to find that we can't find one place for hydration to hangout, hurting the overall experience of each excursion you take. It's a n often missed, yet rather important part of ones automotive purchasing decision.

My family’s auto shop bought one of these a year ago, but in red ( new color for me to own!). We did timing and tune up. I’m actually buying it from our shop as I’ve fallen in love with that 1990’s turbo feel. The classy, sports car feeling!! ( plus doing the rip kit, and a cat back exhaust 🤙🏻

Mercedes-Benz still offers a rear facing third row in their E450 All Terrain wagon, but they all come in black.

Neat timing, I just picked up a 2000 FWD NA V70 with the 5 speed auto that I'm fixing up.

I got an 850 turbo a few months ago as my DD which is basically this car but more boxy and fwd and I love it. Keeping it fully stock other than lowering springs and bilsteins down the road but its such a good car and keeps up with traffic/ passes economy boxes even though its a 95. Absolute trooper! I also track a volvo c30 but thats a whole other story...hardly the same car it was stock. Moral of the story don't sleep on pre geely volvo especially preford! I used to have a 940 and that car was awesome too, got t boned by a bolt going 45 miles an hour and walked out without a scratch other than some windshield glass on me.

You really cant mess with Volvo. I own one just like that one with the 5 cylinder and absolutely love it. It is the highest trim and people call it... German. 😂 It is Swedish, lol!

The V70R breadbox is on my bucket list. Ideally with the stick and orange. I'd settle for the facelift version, but don't like it nearly as much. I'd also take an 850R too (in yellow - nearly impossible to find), and put up with the auto. One of the few idealized drearmer cars I can actually see myself buying at some point in the next few years. Would I mod it? Only tastefully :) Hey you gotta earn the prancing moose which would go on the front fender. When new, I almost bought an S70 T5 5 speed - the dealer would not budge on $500, and neither would I. Instead I held onto the SHO a while longer. Such a small percentage to hang the deal on, but it was the principle dammit, lol.

Gus Fring, The meth/ fried chicken cartel leader, in breaking bad drove one of these.

I got a manual 98 T5 V70. I'll submit it when I have learning manual down. All you need to know is that the gearing is super super tall and it has more features than even my dads fully loaded 2015 VW golf

Any time I look at Volvo wagons I just get sad. I had a 2004 xv70 that I bought to fix up, but a timing belt, water pump and new turbo later it ended up needing an engine and it would have been cost prohibitive.
So im a little jealous seeing this one being so awesome!!!

isn't Volvo cars and Volvo trucks two separate companies now? the car division is owned by Geely. @4:20. I guess at the time this car was made it was all still one complete company.

The Volvo V70 is a special car. I was just behind the wheel of a 2023 XC60 and noticed the only real difference is the third row seat. They both feel just as big even with the few extra inches of ground clearance. However, I will say I prefer the new XC60. It has the turbo, stock newer, and frankly, is also extremely expensive. I just turned 30. I can't afford that yet. Maybe if covid never happened! Lol! It's a car I'll wait for and buy one, maybe 5 years from now. Know what i mean? Until then my S40 is perfectly fine. After all, I feel sporty in an S40! 😊
