HVAC hack is to use a tape measure the same way. Lock the tape at 10" and slide the tape measure the same way.

Speed squares only go to like 3½ I think.
Looks like the new Swanson speed square goes to almost 6 inches. I need ro upgrade, mine is worn anyway

What a waste of time, just hook the tape on pencil and pinch it at appropriate length
