Should a Christian Play Video Games?

This guy gave really good advice for someone who doesn't play video games.

The idea that video games are good for spending time with people is something I've thought about. I do think the time is far more productive if spent with friends or family.

Where my conscience gets me is occult symbolism. I hate to see anything occult represented in a positive context and that is sometimes done through video games sadly

Thank you for the video. I have a lot of time spent in & (sadly some wasted) in video games, but at periods they were also beneficial in dealing with trauma or suffering. I have since weaned down my use of them a lot, but what you said about Jesus, His kingdom, and our desire to reign with Him above/against/and ultimately completely eradicating evil is exactly where my heart is at and also when I play. I continually am encouraged to spend more time in His word and with our church, but I also am reminded to not be haughty & that "He provides us with everything for our enjoyment" 1 Timothy 6:17

I think 22 hours a week is a low estimate. When I was in my peak of video games, I played about 9 hours a day sometimes more. I have over 3, 000 hours in one game accumulated over 10 years. I own about 150 games on my computer 40 or 50 more on consoles and that's a low amount for some people. The cost of all those games is a detriment $30-$60 each but the time spent playing those games is a tragedy of lost time. It can be as bad as heroin addiction and since the chemicals come from your body it's worse because you can't get away from it.

Getting rid of video games isn't easy, but it's better to miss out on that than on Christ.

Is it a sin to play call of duty because I play call of duty video games everyday and I spread the word of God around to every online player but don't nobody wants to listen to what I have to say when I spread the word of GOD around in every lobby but some people do listen

Christians today add Christian to everything to make it ok. Read Isaiah 44:9- 20. and today we are: Amos 6:4
