I've been around death and violence my whole life and the knowledge of death is something I've always had. I feared it before, but now I have peace. All glory and thanks to our triune God.

I guess I have been blessed. I can't remember a church I've been in that didn't teach this. I hope next time he addresses the flip side issue:

I've seen so many people or heard about them through others who made such a profession, was deeply involved in church, but at some point, they left. They know these texts and would say they believe them. But now they live however they want because they know they're forgiven. It's especially huge among young people who were in church from the time they were born. They grow up in Sunday School, VBS, AWANA, etc. They may not even necessarily hate God or church. It's just... no longer an interest. But because friends/family members do believe in salvation by grace through faith alone, they don't know what to say to them, for fear of turning them away from God even further. It's always, "Well, they're saved. But they're not living for the Lord right now." But "right now" turns to years, and then decades. For the life of me, I don't know how to reach such people. Again, if we're forgiven, then what?

And yet here I am, fighting every day to keep living for Christ in this godless culture! I want to submit to Christ in every area of life. I want to obey Him. But it gets harder all the time. Other people who profess or at one time professed the name of Christ live however they like and nothing even seems to happen to them.

In my experience, this is the way bigger problem.

Amen! God is just. Which means that if He looks at ANYTHING else other than our faith in the blood of Jesus we are condemned. That faith is the only means by which we are justified before God and therefore the only way we can have peace.

I’m going to take brother White’s advice and memorize the first few verses of Romans 4 so I can defend that point at a moments notice.

Mormons teach a different god and a different gospel. They arent Christian or saved and we need to pray for them.

glory to God
God does not owe anyone anything. His grace and mercy are a gift and you can not earn it. If you try to earn salvation by mixing God’s grace and your own works, you are offending God and telling Him that Christ’s sacrificial atonement is not good enough for you. Do not distort the pure, gracious gospel of Christ. It is God’s grace from start to finish, you can not merit salvation by anything that you do. If you disagree, I challenge you to read Romans, Ephesians and Galatians several times through and really dig in verse by verse.

Around the 10 minute mark, James makes the point that amidst so much medieval death from plagues and whatnot, Rome deprived it's people of true peace with God, how go know you're in the state of grace, before you die. I find that funny. Yes, yes, sola fide, that's the solution, and I agree. But, how much more peace did the reformation really give in its system, with the invention of Calvin's evanescent grace, where you could truly think you believed in Jesus, but if you're not of the elect, it's as unsaving as if you had never believed. How much more did the reformation really help when you had to hope to God you're first elect before you could pretend to be saved by that sola fide, James? Rome deprived assurance of being in the state of grace, the reformation deprived assurance of being elect to grace. What reformation is that? What move of God is that? It was rather a worse deformation from Rome than a true reformation. You gave a worse solution than the original issue. Congratulations. 👏....👏....👏....👏

A DIFFERENT gospel. One that is DIFFERENT from the DOCTRINE of God. The DOCTRINE Christ kept and taught perfectly, the
“If there arises among you a prophet or a dreamer of dreams,  and he gives you a sign or a wonder,  2 and the sign or the wonder comes to pass, of which he spoke to you, saying, ‘Let us go after other gods’—which you have not known—‘and let us serve them, ’ 3 you shall not listen to the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams, for the Lord your God is testing you to know whether you love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.
4 You shall walk after the Lord your God and fear Him, and keep His commandments and obey His voice; you shall serve Him and hold fast to Him. 5 But that prophet or that dreamer of dreams shall be put to death, because he has spoken in order to turn you away from the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt and redeemed you from the house of bondage, to entice you from the way in which the Lord your God commanded you to walk. So you shall put away the evil from your midst.
6 “If your brother, the son of your mother, your son or your daughter,  the wife of your bosom, or your friend who is as your own soul, secretly entices you, saying, ‘Let us go and serve other gods, ’ which you have not known, neither you nor your fathers,  7 of the gods of the people which are all around you, near to you or far off from you, from one end of the earth to the other end of the earth,  8 you shall not consent to him or listen to him, nor shall your eye pity him, nor shall you spare him or conceal him; 9 but you shall surely kill him; your hand shall be first against him to put him to death, and afterward the hand of all the people. 10 And you shall stone him with stones until he dies, because he sought to entice you away from the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage. 11 So all Israel shall hear and fear, and not again do such wickedness as this among you.
