For all who asked about cost: the radon monitor that will tell you short and long term radon level, Amazon sells for about $200. To have the radon mitigation system it is about $1, 500. This system will reduce the Radon level to about 20 units. The Health Canada's max acceptable is 150 units. I got one installed after living in Cochrane apartment, where levels went up to 1, 700 units. We moved out after landlord refused to do anything about it. Alberta, Ontario are one of the worst places.

Try to avoid sleeping in basements where radon accumulates, sleep on upper levels. Air your house out once in a while.

If it came from the federal goverment I don't trust it... what radon? If it's naturally occurring then the aboriginals lived her for a millennium before we even got here and they were fine
