'Really insensitive, offensive thing to do': Olympics opening ceremony blasted

GT Communications Gemma Tognini has hit out at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games after the opening ceremony made an “insensitive” mockery of the Last Supper with a recreation that featured performers in drag.

Olympics organisers have since issued an apology following the mounting backlash it received online over religious depictions during the opening ceremony on Friday.

“It's not something anyone would have done to another religion,” Ms Tognini said.

“I did feel like that was a really insensitive offensive thing to do.”

Hopefully the ratings for the Paris Olympics will be in the toilet along with the opening ceremony.

The good news is that there are more good people on this earth than bad. The bad news is that good people are compassionate, tolerant and forgiving making them vulnerable to the bad. The IOC not only mocked Christianity but they also celebrated 'death' by showing a beheaded Marie Antoinette and a representation of Charon - the ferryman of the dead to Hades. The opening ceremony was nothing less than a moral disaster, I will not be watching the Games.
