On Shazzrah, the auction house has such a huge influx of wands that people sell them for their vendor price and lower, actually losing money.

Always get your faction's rep to Honored/Revered for the 10%+ discount to the cost. Definitely applicable to people who bail on their starting zones to be with their friends in another zone.

Picked Skinning and Mining for my Warlock. Skins I just vendor, but extra ore I try to sell on the AH. Basically only want to keep the mats I need for power leveling Engineering later, maybe at level 50?

But yeah! Solid tips here. I wasted so much gold back in the day on abilities I never used, or for which Rank 1 got the job done. I also had an obsession with keeping Blacksmithing as high as I could at all times, even did the specialization and recipe quests, so that meant pouring gold into Mithril ore and bars. I don't remember when I finally got my mount, but I think I got a loan from a friend. Not sure if I ever paid him back...

Keep an eye on mats on the AH, they're underpriced rn and you can just grab them and craft items that vend for higher than what you bought the mats for

I personally find the AH to be a complete waste of money right now. Profit margins are slim to the point where I find myself vendoring items to save from deposits that may or may not sell the item. Just too many people with not enough gold.

I've been leveling up leather working and skinning. I havent had to purchase any leather to craft items, but I'm finding that having to purchase the different threads and other minor materials adds up quick. I notice that most of the time I can vendor off all the junk I craft, and make back what I spent on threads and other mats. I can occasionally sell some greens. But for the most part I'm definitely not making much money. Hoping this doesn't gimp me at lvl 40

another thing deserves mentioning.

- level your bank alt to level 5 to be able take on professions.
- have him learn enchanting
- have your main send him whatever green/blue items you find out there while questing.
- while enchanting often has level requirements and enchant skill requirements, dis-enchanting has none of it in classic. meaning even if you can equip a sword only with lvl 50 ie., your bank alt can still dis-enchant it with his lvl 5 and -whatever- enchanting skill he might have.

useful for items where the stats seem rather randomized and you think its hard to sell.
sell its mats instead

FYI: vendoring bandages generates more gold than vendoring ”raw” cloth, so leveling up your First Aid is pretty much free if don’t use the bandages while leveling (assuming AH price for cloth is close to vendor price).

Great video Willy :) I think Hunters have it easy too, with Cheetah +2 skills in BM tree for 36% instant cast by level 22!

Thanks, now I'll be able to mount Willy.

In vanilla I was 40g short and had to borrow from a friend, and I wasn't alone. Most needed help getting their mounts at 40. Determined not to end up in a similar spot in Classic, so thanks for this!

Play paladin = free mount. The only downside is you are Auto attacking to 60

don't just send your mats to a bank alt but send your extra gold. Sometimes you will get into a situation where if you have the cash you think Ill just spend it here when you don't need to. If you have to keep running to your alt for cash your not saving and that's a good way to keep saving your money.

I would also say that you should level your fishing up to 150 because there a lot of mats that will be wanted that you get from fishing and you can level up your cooking and keep eats as you need them.

You should determine what your going to need to purchase ahead of time and understand how much it you will need going forward so that you can stockpile as you go.

Leatherworking seems lucrative atm since there are a million skinners who are forced to sell cheap on the AH due to lack of LW's and everyone being broke.

Awsome!! Thanks a lot. I am holding to my mats for now until I am lvl 30-35, and the AH is a little more stable to sell everything I've collected.

Saving gold for mounts feels like it really starts around level 20. When you start to get items that regularly sell for over 20 silver. Till then I dont think I even earned 10g to that point. So most people dont need to worry too much if they're at or below 20 when it comes to what you buy.
But for sure, really think about what abilities you train. From level 20 and beyond they start to cost a gold or several. Can quickly add up and ruin your saving.

Actually, Engineering has made me a ton of cash. I am lvl 38 with 79g. Much of that gold has been from creating iron grenades and vendoring them. I started out Mining/Skinning and dropped skinning after my bank was too full of ore/stone. Since I saved all my mining materials, I was able to level my engineering up to Iron grenades for 2G. Once I could make iron grenades, my gold shot through the roof.

Also keep in mind that fresh servers are selling materials ridiculously cheap. Each craft of iron grenade makes 2-4 grenades. Which a stack of 10 sells for 50s. Each grenade craft takes 1 iron ore, 1 heavy stone, and 1 silk cloth. So if I can pick up a stack of iron for 1g, Heavy stone for 45s and silk cloth for 45s, I am under 2g to craft grenades worth 3-3.5g I make 1+ gold per stack consistently if you are patient and wait for people selling these materials cheap on the AH. Sometimes you have to wait for a material to be undercut, but buy what you can cheap and store it in the bank until you can buy the rest of the mats at reasonable prices.

If you farm the mats yourself, then its pure profit.
